Introduction : Dr. P. Christdhas , B.Sc, M.B.B.S, was an unassuming, soft spoken gentleman and he was one of the pioneer medical doctors in Kanyakumari District , His untold and almost forgotten life history, humane qualities and achievements will surely inspire many young people to become good and compassionate human-beings and dedicated medical doctors.

Dr.P. Christdhas' Parents and Birth : In Nanjil Nadu, on the northern part of Thovalai Taluk near Azhagiapandipuram. lies Therisanangcope village and on the western side of Therisanangcope there lies a beautiful idyllic village called Wattspuram And in Wattspuram village there lived a Christian gentleman by name Mr Puthukunathan [ Vathiyar--Teacher ] with his pretty wife Ms Thayamma and this couple gave birth to Dr. P. Christdhas on the 9th July 1927 .
Dr.P. Christdhas's Siblings ; Mr Puthukunathan [Vathiyar ] was blessed with one son and two daughters namely :- [1] Ms P. Grace Davidson and she married Mr Davidson {Vaithiyar] from the famous Ananchan family ;[2] Dr P. Christdhas [ he is the Hero of this Article] and [3] Ms.Joyce and she lives in Wattspuram
His education : Dr P. Christudhas did his Primary school studies at the Primary School at Wattspuram, and then did his High School Studies at the Concordia High School at Vadakankulam, Tirunelveli District . Then he pursued his Intermediate Collegiate education [F.A] at the prestigious Scott Christian College , Nagercoil and did his B.Sc at the famous Dr. Alagappa Chettiar College at karaikudi . After having passed his B.Sc degree examination he did his medical course at the famous Trivandrum Medical College and passed his M.B.B.S .
Dr. P. Christdhas's Wife and Children ; Dr P. Christdhas, B.Sc, M.B.B.S married Ms Leela Bai, B.A, the youngest daughter of Mr Isaac Moses [ UPASI ] from Nagercoil . Dr P. Christdhas and Ms Leela Bai Christdhas couple gave birth to one son and two daughters namely :- [1] Mr. C. Vasanthan, B.Sc and he married Ms Anita, M.A, P.G.D.C, and this couple is blessed with two daughters namely;[a]Ms.Dr. Jessie Venita Christine Vasanth, and she is married to Mr Er.John Wesley, B.E, MBA , [[b] Ms. Dr. Jennifer Christine Vasanth and she is married to Mr Er. Jim Mijasi, B.E, M.E[ UK] ;[2] Ms Romala , M.Sc and she is married to her maternal cousin Dr. Isaac Christian Moses, MBBS, M.D[ Former Dean of Stanley Medical College, Chennai and Founder of Bethesda Hospital in Coimbatore] and this couple is blessed with the following children namely :-[a] Mr. Dr. Ivan Moses , M.B.B.S, and he is married and blessed with two children, [b] Ms Dr Catherine Martha, M.B.B.S, and [c] Ms Dr. Kathleeen Maria M.B.B.S,;[3] Ms Cynthia , M.Sc. M.Phil, and she is married to Dr Inba Sekar, M.B.B.S, M.D D.M [ Cardiologist and Founder of Inba Multi Speciality Hospital ,Nagercoil] and this couple is blessed with a daughter and a son namely :- [1] Ms Dr. Inba Priyanka, M.B.B.S, D.G.O, M.D, and currently she is working at the Government Medical College Hospital, Asaripallam,Nagercoil and [b] Mr Dr. Inba Praveen , M.B.B.S,.
Dr. P. Christdhas's Medical Career After having passed his M.B.B.S, Dr. Christdhas joined Madurai Mission Hospital and worked as a Medical Doctor,.for some period of time . In 1962, he got his Posting as a Doctor in the Tamil Nadu Medical Service and began his medical career as a Government Doctor in Tamil Nadu. Dr. P. Christdhas mainly worked at the Primary Health Centers in Kanyakumari District, and later at Tuckalay Government Hospital and retired as R.M.O in July 1985.
Conclusion :: After his retirement Dr P. Christdhas, B.Sc,M.B.B.S opened a Clinic named , "Thayamma Hospital "in memory of his mother at Villukiuri village near Thakalay and rendered medical service to the sick, needy and poor people, charging very low fee sometimes without any medical fee. . For some period of time he worked as a Medical Doctor at the Holy Cross Hospital Nagercoil also. He moved with the people with affection and respect, irrespective of their financial or social status. He won the hearts of his patients by his pleasant smile, loving words and sincere medical care. Dr. P. Christdhas B.Sc., M.B.B.S passed away on the 24th September ,2005 and his lifeless body was buried at the C.S.I Home Church cemetery. in Nagercoil . I can surely say that God has blessed him with all the blessings promised in Psalm 128 in the Holy Bible. . I end this Article with the following words, " Dr.P. Christdhas, B.Sc, M.B.B.S, was a tall man and taller than all my words and estimate , He was a handsome man with a beautiful heart.
