High School Suchindrum , Former Head Master of Parali High School at Pillar Dam Nilgirs, English Teacher at Stanes Higher Secondary School Coimbatore late Mr N. Manuel Dhas , B.A, B.T

Introduction   ;  Late Mr . N. Manuel Dhas was a colourful multifaceted personality .He was a great Educationist , Teacher, Speaker, Writer, Translator and Social Thinker. He is an unsung hero and his unsung story  is dispatched to the readers through  this Article . He was an enviable English teacher and  and a remarkable Speaker both in English and Tamil . His real life story and his accomplishment in the  field of Education, Teaching and Social Work, will galvanise the Readers with new intellectual grit and stamina to  reach higher heights in life  and to live a meaningful life.

Mr. N. Manuel Dhas's Parents and Birth    Palkulam is a beautiful village  surrounded by paddy fields and coconut trees, situated near Thengamputhur village in Agasteeswaram taluk,  Kanyakumari district. .Many decades ago there lived a gentleman by name  Mr Subban and he gave birth to Mr Madan and he gave birth to Mr  M. Nallathambi . Mr M.Nallathambi was a flourishing farmer and he was a close friend of the great Tamil Scholar Sri. Sasthankutti Pillai of Thengampudur. Mr M. Nallathambi lived happily with his beloved wife by name  Ms kanagammal . God blessed Mr. M.. Nallathambi and Ms kanagammal Nallathambi couple with all  the connubial blessings and this couple gave birth to Mr Mauel Dhas  on the 1st January 1927. 

Mr. Manuel Dhas' Siblings   : Mr. M. Nallathambi and Ms kanagammal Nallathambi couple gave birth to the following children  ;-[1] Mr. N. Manuel Dhas, B.A, B.T, [ The Hero of this Article], [2] Mr. Babu Prabhu Dhas , B.Sc, B.Ed and he married Ms Annal and she worked and retired as the Nursing Superintendent , Bethestha Hospital [ I.E.L.C, Ambur Synod ] . Mr N. Babu Prabhudhas and Ms Annal Babu Prabhudhas couple gave birth to the  following children namely ;-[a] Ms. B. Helen kanagarani , B.Sc, B.Ed, and she worked at the Concordia Higher Secondary School Vaniyambadi as a  B.T  Assistant and retired from teaching service.. Ms. Helen kanagarani married Mr Deva Anbu , M.Sc, B.Ed and he worked  as a P.G. Assistant in the Concordia Higher Secondary School Vaniyambadi and retired as Head Master of this School . Mr Deva Anbu was an influential IELC Member in the Ambur Synod [ I.E.L.C,] , [b] Mr  D. Samson Nallathambi, B.E  and he worked at the famous Neyveli Lignite Corporation and retired as an Executive Engineer. Mr D. Samson  Nallathambi married Ms Sheila , B.Sc [ Home maker]  and [c] Ms.Sylvia Snehalatha and she  worked as a Staff Nurse in a Private Hospital at Ranipet and she married Mr Solomon. 

Mr. N. Manuel Dhas's Educational Track    :  Mr. N. Manuel Dhas did his High School studies at the famous Scott Christian High School, Nagercoil, and after having passed his S.S.L.C. examination, he did his Intermediate Junior and Senior studies at the famous Scott Christian College , Nagercoil . After having passed his Intermediate Senior with good marks Mr. N. Manuel Dhas pursued his B.A [ History ] at the famous St Xaviers College Palayam Kottai . and it will be useful to remember a  fact that former Professor of English, Scott Christian College Nagercoil late Prof A.J. Franklin was one of  the Classmates of Mr. N. Manuel Dhas at the St Xaviers College Palayam Kottai . Mr N. Manuel Dhas passed his B.A[ History] with high marks and pursued his B.T. in a Teacher's Training College at Quilon, Kerala State.  . 

Mr. N. Manuel Dhas'  Wedding    :  Mr. N. Manuel Dhas  married  Ms. V. Baulammal,  daughter of Mr Vethakkan .in the year 1946  It is useful to remember that Ms Baulammal studied up to S.S.L.C. in the famous Duthie  Girls High School, Nagercoil .

Mr. N. Manuel Dhas's Children and  their Families :    Mr N. Manuel Dhas and Ms Baulammal Manuel Dhas couple were blessed with all the conjugal blessings and this couple gave birth to the  following children namely :-

[1] Ms. Padmini and this female child died  when she was a four years old;

[2] Mr. Kanaga Sabapathy, B.Sc,  and he married Ms V. Vethamony , B,Sc, . Mr kanagasabapathy  worked for many years in various positions in the Revenue Department, Govt of Tamil Nadu and retired as a Deputy Collector [ Tuticorin Dist] and Ms V. Vethamony Kanagasabapathy retired as a Superintendent, Social Welfare Department, Govt of Tamil Nadu. Mr kanagasabapathy and Ms V. Vethamony  Kanagasabapathy couple gave birth to the following children namely ;- [a]  Ms..K. Mathubala , B.Sc, M.C.A , and she is working as a Software  Engineer at the famous Wipro Company for more than two decades . Ms.K. Mathubala married Mr.Sunder Singh , M.Sc[ Computer Science] and he works as a Software Engineer in a listed Software Company.  This couple gave birth to a son by name Mr. Rohit and he  is doing his second year M.B.B.S. in a reputed Medical College in Pondichery ,[b] Mr. K. Jegathish Premnath, M.Sc[ Computer Science] and he works as Software Engineer in the famous Mindtree Limited. Mr Jegathish Premnath married Ms Freeda , B.E, and this couple is blessed with one cute daughter, [c] Ms.K. Anitha Nesakumari, M.C.A, and she is working as a Software Engineer in a reputed Software company in Bangalore and she married Mr Ramiah Varatharajan, B.E and he is working as a Senior Engineer in the famous Hindustan Aeronautical Limited , Bangalore, Govt of India and this couple is blessed with  a daughter and a son ;

                        Mr. M. Chelliah Dhas, B.A with his wife Ms Annie Bama , B.Sc, B.Ed,.

[3] Mr. M. Chelliah Dhas , B.A, and he married Ms Annie Bama , B.Sc, B.Ed . Mr Chellaih Dhas  retired as an officer , Canara Bank and Ms Annie Bama  worked at the Concordia Higher Secondary School, Putetti and retired as a B.T. Assistant. Mr. Chelliah Dhas scored 90 % marks in English in his SSLC Examination and his marks in English was higher than the marks of scored by the State First Student of that year, in English.  Mr Chellaih Dhas and Ms Annie Bama Chelliah Dhas couple gave birth to the following children namely :- [a] Mr. C.Vijay Anand, B.Tech[ Chemical ] and  Vijayanand is specialised in developing Quality Engineering Strategies for Digital Transformation Initiative which includes Mobility, Cloud, Migration, Data Science Systems, Technology Modernisation Programs,etc,. Mr Vijayanand worked as General Manager--Sr.Enterprise Architect of H.C.L Technologies from October 2018 to April 2021 with distinction   and currently he is working as Global Practice Director of H.C.L. Technologies , Greater Toronto Area, Canada with great distinction and efficacy As Global Practice Director of H.C.L, Tech, he is in charge of Canada and USA .Mr. C. Vijayanand married Ms Berno Ezhil Mexsa , M.Sc [ Microbiology] and she works as a Patent Writer in Canada and this couple is blessed with a smart daughter,  [b] Ms Beena Sharmi , B.E [ Computer Science] and she is working at NOVO NORDISK [ A Leading Global Healthcare Company]  and she married Mr R.Allwyn Wilson, M.B.A, and he is working as a Software Engineer in the famous MPHASIS Limited  in Bangalore and this couple is blessed with a smart son by name Mr. A. Shawn Calwin and currently he is doing his School Final  and Mr. R. Shawn Calwin is a blooming  musical genius  and he is an expert Drummer and adept Keyboard Player and also he is a voracious Reader of Books :

[3] Mr. M. Kingsly, M.Sc[ Maths]. M.A [ English], M.Ed  and he married Ms Prabha, M.Sc, B.Ed, daughter of Mr. Jenarthanam . Mr M. Kingsly served as Headmaster of the S.A. Higher Secondary School, Vettornimadam for several years with great dedication . Mr kingsly and Ms Prabha  Kingsly couple gave birth to the following children namely ;[a] Ms. Paulin Sophia, M.Sc [ Nursing] and she is working as a Nurse in N.H.S, U.K and she married Mr Edith [ Male Nurse] and is blessed with a son who is studying in U.K,and a new born child  ,[b] Mr. Jewelson Samuel, B.E, M.S [ U.K]  he did his M.S in UK and now he is working as a Software Engineer  in WIPRO Limited, United .Kingdom.. Mr Jewlelson Samuel married Ms D. Aruna , B.Sc [Computer Sc] , M.B.A ;

{4] Mr. M. Sunder , and he studied up to P.U.C. and he married Ms Ambika and she is working as an Assessor , T.N.E.B. and this couple is blessed with a son by name Mr Nanthakumar, B.E,  and ;

[ 5 ] Ms. Padmini , B.Sc, B.L   and she  married Mr Chandra Mohan, M.A   and Mr Chandra Mohan decorated a Senior Post  in the Labour Department, Govt of India and this couple is blessed with a son by name Mr Akash. .

Mr. N. Manuel Dhas' Professional /  Teaching Career       : After having passed his B.A, B.T,  Mr N. Manuel Dhas joined the famous  S.M.S.M. High School,Suchindrum as a High School Teacher and worked as English and Social Studies Teacher for many years with great distinction and devotion and due to  some personal reasons he left this teaching  job in the year 1969..  Immediately after that Mr. N. Manuel Dhas, B.A, B.T,  got a privilege to work as a Lecturer at the Saraswathi Narayanan College, Madurai for one year with great enthusiasm and efficiency.  Following that Mr. N. Manuel Dhas, B.A, B.T, got the privilege to work as the Head Master of the famous Parali High School at Pillar Dam Nilgris and  this is the only school in the state of Tamil Nadu run by the T.N.E.B,. Mr N. Manuel Dhas  worked as Head Master in this School for two years with great efficacy and left the job . He then joined the famous Stanes Higher Secondary School Coimbatore as a Senior  English Teacher and worked as an English Teacher with great distinction and efficacy till his retirement . After his retirement he shifted to Madras/ Chennai  and lived there for some years and died in October 2000, and his mortal remains were buried at the Santhome C.S.I. Church cemetery, Chennai . 

Conclusion   : Mr. N. Manuel Dhas was really a multi-faceted personality .  He was a great Social Thinker, Egalitarian and Educationist  and he  worked to bring equality and fraternity among his fellow countrymen . He was  a great Educationist and he believed that education will liberate common people from all types ignorance and lift the less privileged  and poor people to a better height and places.  He was an eloquent and convincing public speaker and his command over the English language was commendable.  A  great privilege  was given to Mr N. Mauel Dhas by the former Chief Minister of the then Madras State Mr K. Kamaraj, to accompany  Mr K. kamaraj and Acharay Kirupalini  in the same car as a Translator. Mr Manuel Dhas served as a Translator for  Sri k. kamaraj  and Mr Acharya Kirupalani and accordingly Mr Manuel Dhas translated the words of kamaraj into English from Tamil  and  Kirupalani's English conversation into Tamil  Mr N. Manuel Dhas did the translation job so wonderfully and candidly and earned the appreciation of those two tall leaders. Mr. N. Manuel Dhas  was not only an excellent English Teacher but also he was an eloquent speaker and writer both in English and Tamil. God has blessed his children and grandchildren with all the blessings. He had the privilege to rub shoulders with many tall intellectuals of his time from all sections of the society..   He was physically and intellectually handsome.   We cannot accommodate all of  his accomplishment and important chapters of his real  life story  within the space of this Article and so I will end this Article with the following sentence, " Late Mr N. Manuel Dhas was a Great Educationist, English Teacher , Social Thinker and  Egalitarian and we are proud of him
