A Former Senior Scientist of Zoological Survey of India and Joint Director , Ministry of Environment and Forest [ South Zone], Dr. M. Mary Bai , M.Sc, Ph.D,.--Part Final.

Dr.M. Mary Bai, M.Sc, Ph.D,  Joined Marine Biological Regional Centre , Chennai as  a Scientist:  Dr. M. Mary Bai was selected by the competent authority to work as a Scientist at the famous Marine Biological Regional Center , Chennai   and  she accordingly with great enthusiasm and vision joined the Marine Biological Regional Center of the Zoological Survey of India  in Chennai in 1974. Since then there was no turning back she committed her full intellectual resources, energy and intelligence for the cause of Research in Zoological .Survey of .India..

Dr. Mary Bai's Research Study on Echnoderms and Marine Pollution : Along the East coast of India , from Chennai to Kanyakumari and also in Andaman islandss   Dr. Mary Bai did extensive and intensive survey in connection with her  Research-study of the Enchnoderms. She also had  the privilege to do  a prestigious  and much needed Project funded by  the Department of Science and technology, Government of India [DST ] on ," Marine Pollution along Madras Coast" .

Dr M Mary Bai  was transferred   to Southern Regional Office of Z.S.I in Chennai :  Dr. Mary Bai on transfer, joined the Southern Regional office of the Zoological Survey of India  in Chennai and pursued   her Research on Bionomics and her wonderful and highly useful research findings had been  published in the research  Journals of Zoological Survey of India  and also in many  reputed Research Journals .  One of her  most important research Articles was, A Monograph of Holothuria Scabra Jager.  Dr Mary Bai was a great  born Researcher she did a significant  useful  Research Project on the Pollution of aspect of Cooum River in Chennai . She read the Research findings of the Project on the Pollution aspect of Cooum river , in a Symposium conducted by the Department of Zoology, Bangalore University.

Dr. M. Mary Bai served as Joint Director in the Ministry of Environment and Forest, South Zone:- On deputation Dr. Mary Bai joined the Ministry of Environment and Forest , South Zone as  Joint Director in 1999.  She played  a leading role and part in many of the Environmental Projects of Petroleum  Industries and Electricity Departments of  Goa and Kerala States.

Dr. M.Mary Bai superannuated from her  Government Service :- After having served the Zoological Survey of India and Ministry of Environment and Forest  for nearly twenty nine  years Dr. M. Mary Bai superannuated from her active service in the  Government of India, on 30th November , 2003. 

Dr. M. Mary Bai Died in 2013 :-  On account of her hard and restless work and age factor her health started to deteriorate suddenly and Dr.M. Mary Bai died on 27th March, 2013. She is survived by her Husband Dr. Krihnan and son Dr. Rajendran and family . Her mortal remains had been buried at her native village Manchana Vilai , near Eraniel Town, kanyakuamri district  by the side of her  beloved parents' graves in their family coconut garden adjoining their family house .  Dr. M.Mary Bai was beautiful, intelligent , humane , impartial , fearless and God fearing and was a Champion of Social Justice She was liked and respected by her colleagues, friends , family members and public .Some are born great and some achieve greatness. Dr. M. Mary Bai belonged to the second category.  Dr.M .Mary Bai  by  her colorful life, remarkable scientific accomplishments and service  had found a laudable and lasting place  in the social and scientific history of Kanaykumari District and India.
