Former Member and Chairman of Selection Board Zonal and National level for selecting Constables, Sub Inspectors etc for RPF, and Former Principal Chief Security Commissioner / IG of Railway Protection Force Sri. C. Thamotharan. Part Final

He Wrote Civil Service Examination  and  was Provisionally Selected for IPS: Sri. C Thamotharan after having passed his MSc, wrote the Central Civil Service  Group I Examination  conducted by the Union  Public Service Commission and was provisionally selected for the prestigious IPS cadre but due to lack of required height he could not join the IPS service in the Government of India. However as he has already cleared the banking recruitment examination he joined as a clerk in the Indian Bank and served in the bank during the  year 1976 nearly for a year

UPSC selected him for the post of Assistant Security Officer in Railway Protection Force:: As he met  the minimum height requirement  for Assistant Security Officer post in the Railway Protection Force the Union Public Service Commission selected him for the post of Assistant Security Officer in the Indian Railway Protection Force  and sent him an appointment letter . So  he joined the Railway Protection Force as Assistant Security Officer in the year 1978, since then there was no turning back . Step by step he was getting promotions to next higher echelon.

His Marriage , Wife and Children:  .Mr. C. Thamoatharan married his father's sister's daughter Ms. Poongothai and Mrs Poongothai Thamotharan and Mr. C. Thamotharan couple is blessed with two sons namely Mr.T.. Sethuraman, MBA and Mr.T. Jegajeevan.  Mr. Sethuraman is working with Wipro in the Advertising section and Mr Sethueaman's wife Ms. Soumya , B.E is from Kerala . Mr. T. Jegajeevan , B.E is successfully  running a Coaching Centre for NEET examination in Chennai.

Trajectory of his Professional Career in the Railway Protection Force:. Mr. C. Thamotharan started his professional career with the Indian Railway Protection Force as Assistant Security Officer in 1978 and afterwards there was no turning back.  After  completing his probation period successfully he joined at  his duty at Jansi in 1980.and he was transferred  to the followiing places namely,  Sholapur , and Jabalpur in the same cadre . In 1983 he was promoted as Railway Divisional Security Officer and posted at Lucknow  in the same official cadre; he worked at Samasthpur, Secandrabad, Chakratherpur, Palakad [kerala] and Chennai . While he was serving in Chennai he was promoted as Joint Director and transferred to the Railway Board in Delhi . In the Railway Board he was in charge of Policy making matters,  Parliamentary Questions, Matters connected with State Central Security matters etc . In the Railway Board Office he worked nearly for four and a half years with great distinction [1998-2003].

Mr.C.Thamotharan was promoted as Chief Security Commissioner. Sri. C. Thamotharan was promoted as Chief Security Commissioner in 2002 and transferred to Jaipur , North Western Railway [ Oct 2002 - July 2005] Then he was transferred to Huballi, karnataka State and he worked there till 2009 . In 2009 he was transferred to ICF , Chennai here he efficaciously worked as DIG cum Chief Security Commissioner for nearly one year [ 2009- 2010]. In 2010 he was promoted as Inspector General cum Principal Chief Security Commissioner and posted at Gorakpur, UP From 2010 to 2013 he was working as IG cum Principal Chief Security Commissioner with great efficiency and dedication and retired from service in the rank of Joint Secretary, Government of India on  31st January , 2013.

Some prestigious Awards Won By Him :  He was very honest and efficient in discharging his official duties so many  prestigious awards automatically  reached him  He learned Hindi  language and became an expert in writing speaking and writing  in Hindi  and his proficiency in Hindi was recognized and  he was awarded Proficiency Award by the Railway Board. He also received the Indian Police Medal for meritorious service in  the Award was signed by the then President of India  Hon.Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam .

He has served as Selection and Recruitment Board Member and Chairman on many occasions: He had served as Member and Chairman of the Railway Selection Committee for selecting railway Constables, , Sub Inspectors, Inspectors [ prosecution] both in Zonal and All India Level ..

Conclusion : Sri. C. Thamotharan was one of the smart and honest officers of Indian Protection Force. he is a very simple man with very high ideals. After his retirement he is living in his native village called Kannanpudr in Thovalai Tataluk with his wife.  he is an analytical thinker and a talented singer. he loves music now after his retirement he is learning Carnatic music systematically under a music teacher..He loves nature and his village is surrounded by  paddy fields and ponds. Now he leads a calm composed and content life .  Some are born great and some achieve greatness and definitely he has become great by achieving greatness. His life is definitely an inspiring model to the students who come from  rural background , on many account he can be counted  with respect. This writer respects Sri. C. Thamotharan  for his honesty, educational and professional accomplishments.
