Introduction: The first Chief Architect and Town planner to the Government of Kerala Shri. J.C. Alexander was an iconic Architect, Professor of Architecture and designer of great caliber and tall order He was definitely a milestone in the field of modern Architecture and town planning in India . He was dead and gone but he will be remembered for the contributions he had made for the cause of Architecture .To his credit he had designed and built many landmark buildings in and around Trivandrum and also in some other places..Among the many monumental architectural buildings designed by Shri.J C Alexander, the Gandhi Memorial Building at Kanyakumari is one of them
J.C Alexander and his Parents : Shri. J.C Alexander was born to Mr J.M Joseph and Mrs. Lily Joseph at Nagercoil . J.C Alexander's father Mr. J.M. Joseph, B.A, L.T, M.L.A [ Nominated ] was a famous Head Master of the famous Scott Christian High School , Nagercoil, and he served as Head Master with distinction for a number of years . And his mother Mrs Lily Joseph belonged to one of the illustrious christian families in Kanyakumari District and Tamil Nadu. and she was the fifth child of Mr. Moses Devadason [ Inchikandakku ] of Nagercoil . And it is pertinent here to remember the historical fact that Moses Devadason was a friend and confidant of Bishop Robert Caldwell and Moses Devadason served as a Supervisor and Conductor of Robert Caldwells' Woodland Estate [ 275 acres ] in Asambu Hills, in Kanyakuamari District with great integrity.. Bishop Robert Caldwell sold his Woodland Estate to his Estate conductor and friend Mr Moses Devadason at a low price in recognition of Mr.Moses Devadason's hard work and honesty.

J.C. Alexander's Siblings : Shri J.C Alexander's Parents Mr.J.M Joseph and Mrs Lily Joseph couple was blessed with the following children : [1] Mr. J.Prince, [2] Mr. J.C. Alexander [3]Mr. J.R. Kenneth, [4]Ms. Sarojini Mathews ,[5] Ms.Leela Daniel, [6] Ms. Lalitha ,[7]Ms Suseela Paul Vedam , [8] .Mr..J.C Prasad . All of Mr J.C Alexander's siblings had a well settled in life and to cite one or two example I would say his elder brother Mr.J. Prince worked in the prestigious Reserve Bank of India , however he died at the early age of 50.. Mr.J.C Alexander's sister Ms Sarojini was married to Mr George Mathew. and Mr George Mathews worked in the famous Voorhees High School Vellore and retired as its Head-Master
J.C . Alexander' wife and married life : Mr. J.C Alexander married his maternal uncle Mr Charles Dawson's daughter Ms Queenie . Ms Queenie Alexander was a product of Sarah Tucker College , Palayam Cottah .. Ms Queenie Alexander's mother Ms Leelamal was a first cousin of the world famous Christian Theologian and Writer Dr, Paul Devanandan , Mr. J.C Alexander and his beloved and beautiful wife Ms.Queenie Alexander were leading a happy and beautiful life but unfortunately death did not allow Ms Queenie to enjoy the conjugal happiness and bliss with her loving husband ; even before completing one year in her married life, death snatched away Ms. Queenie Alexander from her beloved husband Shri J.C Alexander . The demise of his beloved and beautiful wife affected Mr.J.C Alexander deeply beyond all available words.
