Former Member of the Planning Commission of India and Father of India's Tax Reform Padma Vibhushan Dr Raja Jesudoss Chelliah, M.A, Ph.D [USA} .

Introduction :  Dr. Raja Jesudoss Chelliah, M.A, Ph.D[U.S ] was one of the most outstanding Economists of India with international reputation . He was a multi faceted personality, he was a reputed Economist , Fiscal Policy Expert, Economics Professor , Author of many outstanding books and Founder of  National Institute of Public Finance and Policy and Madras School of Economics.,etc.,. He was called as Father of India's Tax Reform. He served as Member of Planning Commission of India, between 1985-1990 with great distinction.  and Fiscal Adviser to the then Finance Minister of India  . His outstanding service to the nation was  recognized   by the Government of India and the Government of India  honoured him the with prestigious Padma Vibushan Award in 2007.

Dr. Raja Chelliah , M.A [Eco], Ph.D,[USA ]

Raja Chelliah's Birth and Parents:   Fiscal policy Expert Dr Raja  Jesudoss Chelliah, was born on 12th December, 1922 at Kovilpatti  town in Thoothukudi District , Tamil Nadu,  to the lovely couple  Mr Chellaih and Mrs Masillamani Chelliah in an illustrious Christian family.. Dr. Raja J Chelliah's father  Mr. Chelliah was a famous Advocate and his mother was a committed and efficient   School Teacher. Dr. Raja Chelliah's parents were closely related to the famous Christian Tamil Poet H.R Krishna Pillai [ The famous Author of the  well known  Tamil Christian Epic , RetchaniyaYathrikam].

Raja Chelliah's Siblings and their families: Dr. Raja J Chelliah's parents were blessed with four smart children namely:[1] Dr. Raja Jesudoss Chelliah , [2]  Mrs.Dr .Vijayalakshmi Sekar ,[3] Samuel Devadas Chelliah , and  [4] Mrs. Suguna Priyam Durai Raj . It is pertinent here to mention that Ms. Dr. Vijyalakshmi married Dr. Sekar  from Srirangam and Dr Sekar served as a Super Senior grade Medical Doctor in the Government .Mrs Dr.Vijayalekshi  Sekar and Dr. Sekar couple was blessed with two smart sons and one lovely daughter.  Ms Suguna Priyam's husband Mr. Wilson  Durai Raj , IFS {Indian Forest Service ] worked in the Forest Department, Government of Tamil Nadu and retired  as Conservator of Forests , Government of Tamil Nadu . Mrs Suguna Priyam Durai Raj and Mr Durai Raj  couple was blessed with three sons including Dr. Suresh Chelliah. .Dr..Suresh Chelliah has married Ms. Sheela [ daughter of Mr Rev Robert Rajasekaran  and Mrs Johnny Annamuthu Robert Rajasekaran of Nagercoil].and this couple is blessed with two  lovely children namely;[1]Ms. Archana Chelliah, B.E, M.B.A, C.I.I. SCM Pro, and [2] Mr Daniel Chelliah and  now Daniel is doing his MA[English] at the famous Bishop Heber College , Trichy.. Dr Suresh Chelliah is a famous Child Specialist Doctor in Trichy.[ I had the privilege of meeting Dr. Raja Jesudoss Chelliah, when he attended his nephew Dr Suresh Chelliah's wedding with Ms Sheela, at Nagercoil ].

Dr. Raja Chelliah's Wife and Children    : Dr. Raja Chelliah was married to Ms Sita  and this couple gave birth to two daughters namely :[1] Ms. Dr. Masilla Mallika Chelliah and [ 2] this daughter's name will be provided here later .

Dr. Raja Chellaih got Fulbright Scholarship for his Ph.D :: Dr. Raja J Chelliah was a very  brilliant   student  all through his life. After having meritoriously  passed  his M.A in economics {Madras University ] he joined as a Lecturer in the Economics Department, in the prestigious Madras Christian College, Tambaram and after having worked as Lecturer for 5 years in an efficacious manner in Madras Christian College, Tambaram, he got a Fulbright Scholarship to do  his PhD in Economics at the famous University of Pittsburg,  Pennsylvania USA.

His Professional Career after his return from U.S. with a Ph.D  degree   : After having returned from US, Dr Raja Chelliah worked as a Senior Economist at the , "National Council of Applied Economic Research [ NCAER }, New Delhi [ 1958--1960 ]. Then Dr. K. Raja Chelliah got the privilege to work as a Reader and Professor of Economics at the Department of Economics, at the prestigious University of Rajasthan for nearly six years. with distinction  [ 1960-- 1966 ] . After that Dr Raja Chellaiah served as Professor  of Economics at the famous Osmania University, Hydrabad  for nearly four years [ 1966--1969 ]. 

Dr. Raja Chelliah  worked In I.M.F   : Dr. Raja Chelliah got the privilege to work as Chief of  the  Fiscal Analysis Department of IMF for nearly seven years  between 1969-- 1975. with great efficacy and proved himself as a great Economic and Fiscal Analyst and Thinker  

He Founded the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy     ; As an innovative Economic thinker and an expert in the  field of Public Finance Dr Raja Chelliah founded the famous National Institute of Public Finance and Policy in 1976 and served as its Founding Director with great commitment between 1976-- 1985  and during this period he built this Institution into a full fledged Research Institution in fiscal matters..

 

Dr. Raja Chelliah served as a Member of Planning Commission [ 1987--1989 ]  : The  Government of India appointed Dr. Raja Chellaih as a Member of Planning of India in  1987 and he worked as a Member of Planning Commission during  the period  from 1987 to 1989 with great  efficiency , vision , brain storming economic ideas and efficacy .

Dr. Raja Chelliah Served as Chairman of the Tax Reforms Committee [ 1991-  1993]  ; The then Government of India rightly recognised his economic wisdom and appointed Dr. Raja Chelliah  as the Chairman of the Tax Reforms Committee of the  Government of India. And as Chairman of the Tax Reforms Committee, Dr. Raja Chelliah introduced many notable and note worthy recommendations and reforms  and he was appreciated both by the Government and countrymen. And aptly he was called as the Father of Tax Reform in India .  As Chairman  of Tax Reforms Committee he set up the the basement  for reducing Import Duties and  paved the way for the economic liberalisation in India 

 

Conclusion   : Dr. Raja Chelliah  served as the Chairman of the Tax Reforms and Revenue Augmentation Commission of Govt of Tamil Nadu during 2002 -- 2003 with great expertise and efficacy  Dr. Raja Chelliah was a remarkable Institution builder   He was the Founder of the prestigious Madras School of Economics and there he served as a Professor Emeritus . He also had the privilege to serve as a Member in the 9th Finance Commission, Govt of India  and also to serve  as Fiscal Adviser in the Ministry of Finance , Govt of India [1993-- 1995 ] . He had authored some famous books namely :[1] Towards Sustainable Growth : Essays in Fiscal and Financial Sector Reforms in India [1996], [2] Eco Taxes on Polluting inputs and outputs [2007 ], [3] Income - Poverty and Beyond [2002], [4] Reports on India's Reforms with Vijay  l. Kelkara-[2003] , etc,.  The Government of India honoured Dr. Raja Chelliah with the prestigious Padma Vibhushan Award in 2007.  Dr. Raja Chelliah died on 7th April , 2009 and on his death Mother India had lost a great Iconic Economist and a Patriotic Son  .

Famous Senior Environmental Scientist [ NEERI, CSIR } Dr.SPM .Prince William, M.Sc, Ph.D,. Part-A

Introduction : Famous  Senior Scientist of the National  Environmental Engineering Research Institute, Nagpur, [NEERI,] Shri S.P.M. Dr. Prince Williams , M.Sc , Ph D,  of Harithasapuram, Agasteeswaram, Taluk,  Kanyakumari District, was really a colorful  milestone in the scientific map of India  Even though he is not alive today the  innovative  scientific contributions made by him  in the filed of  Bio-processing  of Waste to Energy, Solid and Hazardous Waste Management , Eco Texiology, etc, will remain as a permanent milestone  and memory stone in our minds for many more years  to come... He was a proud son of Kanyakumari District and within a short span of time by his hard work, competent intelligence, creative analysis, and innovative research,  he did bring lasting indelible fame to his  parents, family members and native village. His recent untimely death was really a great loss to our country and to the scientific world.

Dr. SPM. Prince Williams , his birth and Parents: . SPM. Prince William's native village , Harithasapuram is  a beautiful idyllic hamlet lies amidst verdant paddy fields and coconut fields, in between Kotaram Village and the historical Vattakottai [Round Fort]  , in Kanyakumari District  Dr. Prince Williams was born to   Mr. M. William Dhasan and Mrs Manonmani William on the 14th February, 1971. And Mr William Thasaon  and Mrs Manonmani William couple  also blessed with a beautiful and intelligent daughter by name Ms.Gnana Regin .Ms Gnana Regin , M.Sc, M.Ed, M. Phil is married to Mr Rathan Chandavat , B.E,[ Son of Mr Ponnusamy, a retired  Higher Secondary School Head-Master] and Ms Gnana Regin Rathan Chandavat is living in Coimbatore with her family. Mr Rathan Chandavat is a promising upcoming industrialist.


Dr.Prince William's enviable Educational Track  :Dr.  Prince William did his fabulous  School education in the Government Higher Secondary School at Kottaram and  did his  B.Sc[Botany ] in the famous Vivekananda College , Agasteeswaram . And  he bagged Gold Medal for his B.Sc, from the Vivekananda College and also got  University Rank for the same . Then he joined the reputed Bhathiar University,Coimbatore for his M.Sc[ Botany]. he passed his M.Sc  degree with high distinction . His flair for research and higher education led him to continue his Ph.D  in Environmental Sciences  For his Ph.D study he received Senior Research Fellowship [SRF ], from CSIR , Ministry of Human Resource and Development , New Delhi ..He had an enviable track record of educational accomplishment  ;to cite a few , Dr.Prince William cleared National Eligibility Test for Lectureship [UGC].

Dr. Prince  William and his wife and Children : Dr. SPM. Prince William married Ms. P. Renji Mary, M.E , a beautiful daughter of Mr V. Samuel, MA, B.Ed, and Mrs Nirmala Samuel .Mr. V. Samuel worked as Head.Master of the famous Corley Higher Secondary School , Thambaram,Chennai and Mrs Nirmala Samuel was a daughter of the famous Head-Master late Mr. Chidambaram , B.A, LT, of Trivandrum.Dr. SPM. Prince William and Mrs Renji Mary William couple  is blessed with two lovely children namely :[1] Master.P. Jonathan William ans[2]Master Jeno Sam William .

Historical Couple Mrs. Patience Dhanaraj and Mr.Dhanaraj J.T.Ambrose of Nagercoil and family

Introduction:  Historical couple  Mrs Patience Dhanaraj and her husband Mr Dhanaraj J.T . Ambrose of Nagercoil, hailed from two  of the most famous Christian Families of South India . This couple's forefathers' history was closely connected with the Christian , Social, Musical  and Educational history of  Nagercoil Tamil Nadu and South India . Mrs Patience  was the daughter of the legendary Mr. Moses Devadasan of Nagercoil[Injikandakku] and sister of Rev D.M. Devasayhaym B.D, the First B.D, of Serampore University . Mr Dhanarahj was the grandson of  Mr Joseph Munshi and Mrs Marthal Fanny Joseph Munshi [ Marthal Fanny was the third daughter of Mr Daniel Paramanandam,  the first Deacon of Nagercoil Home Church].

Mrs. Patience's Parents  and siblings :Ms. Patience was the 8th child of Mr Moses Devadasan [1859- 1920] and Mrs Annama Devadasan [1865-1927 ] of Nagercoil,  Mr Moses Devadasan and his wife Annamma Devadasan couple was blessed with the following children :-
[a]  Mr. D.M. Devasahayam, B.D,[ Remained as Bachelor].
[b]  Mr  D.George Dawson and he married his cousin Ms. Agnes.
[c]  Ms. D.Victoria  and she married her cousin Mr. Jeevanandam.

[e] Ms. D. Lily and she married Mr J.M Joseph, former Head Master, Scott Christian   H,School,Nagercoil.

[h]  Ms.D. Patience and she married Mr.Dhanaraj [ a son of Mr.J.T..Ambrose and Ms Louisa Ambrose ]

[2] Mr. D. Noble and family : Mr D. Noble  was a great Labor Leader , in that capacity he did  visit Russia. He married an Anglo Indian girl by name Ms. Florence  Elizabeth and this couple was blessed with four daughters namely[1] Shyamala , [2] Ms. Susi , [3] Ms Parimazha, [4] Ms. Anitha .
Ms. Shyamala married Mr. Rajendran and this couple is blessed with two children namely [a] Pearl and [b] Hanna .Ms Susi married Mr Srinivasan and this couple is blessed with one daughter [  Australia ]and one son who lives in USA.

[3]Mr. D..Edmund and family : Mr Edmund married Ms. Violet Devakirubai  and this lovely couple was blessed with three pretty daughters and one smart son . Mr Edmund worked with Imperial Tobacco Company and Ms.Violet Deva Kirubai  Edmund was a  teacher

[4]Mr. D. Premdas and family : Mr Premdas married Ms. Daisy Padmini. This lovely  couple was blessed with one daughter by name Ms Pramila and a son by name Mr John Prabahar .Ms Pramila married Mr. Santhakumar who worked with C.B.I, Govt of India  Ms Pramila and Mr.Sathakumar couple is blessed with a  son  by name, Mr. John Prabahar ,   and he  is a trained Pilot, at present he lives in USA

[5] Mr. D. Charles and family : Mr Charles married Ms Grace and and this lovely  couple  was blessed with a son by name , Mr Dhanaraj. Mr Charles was working  with Neyveli Lignite Corporation.


[6] Mr. D. Earnest Gunasekaran and family : Mr. Earnest Gunesekaran is a mechanical engineer and he was working with the famous Shaw Wallace Company. He  married Ms. Leema Rose and this lovely couple was  blessed with a daughter by name Ms. Renjini Papu  and two sons by name Mr. Addington Premkumar and Mr.Sam  Ms. Renjini Papau married Mr.Ebenezer Noble and Ebenezeer Noble is a Charted Accountant working in Bangalore. Ms. Renjini Papu and Mr. Ebenezer couple is blessed with a daughter by name Ms Rebecca and a son by name Moses ,B.E. Ms. Rebecca is married and lives in USA with her husband and family  Mr. Moses B.E, is working in Bangalore. Mr Earnest Gunesekaran couple's son : Mr Addington Premkumar ,B.E,   is working with Neyveli Lignite Corporation as Deputy Chief Engineer and Mr Addington Premkumar  and his wife Ms. Latha Premkumar couple is blessed with a daughter by name Ms Ammu, B.E, and a son [ who is also an Engineer] . Ms Ammu is got married  to Mr. Sujith and  now she lives in  Singapore with her family. Mr..Earnest Gunesekaran couple's second  son Mr Sam married Ms Rosalind  and this couple is blessed with a lovely daughter. Mr Sam is looking after  his own business .

[7] Mr D.A.V  Mohan Das and family :  Mr . D.A.V Mohandas married Ms Josephine Sneha Malar daughter of Mr.Thamson Joseph and Ms Annaretnam T. Joseph , of Nagercoil  and this couple is blessed with the following Childen namely:- [a] Ms. Geetha , [b] Mr. Paul Vasantha Kumar  and [c] Mr Thimothy.

[a] Ms. Geetha  married Mr Eric Purushothaman . Ms Geetha Eric was a teacher and now she is a Home maker and her Husband Mr. Eric Purushothaman was working as Managing Director in German Company, Chennai, and now he is managing his own Company. Ms.Geetha  and Mr Eric Purushothaman couple is blessed with a daughter by name Ms .Nisha and Nisha is married to Mr. Rishi, B.Tech . Nisha is working to complete her Charted Accountancy  course. Ms Nisha Rishi and Mr. Rishi Couple is blessed with two children namely  Nathaniel and Stephen.

[b] Mr. Paul Vasanth Kumar ia married to Ms Vasanthy and this couple is blessed with  two sons namely Rohith and  Vinoth.

[c] Mr. Thimothy Madukar is got  married to Ms Siporah [  Ms.Siporah is a half German ].. and this lovely couple is blessed with the following children namely :- [1] Mathew , [2] Like and [3] Obeth .

Mrs .Patience Dhanaraj and Ms. Bernice Paul Ebenezer daughters of Mr Moses Devadasan [Injikandakku, Conductor of Dr Robert Caldwell's Woodland Estate] ], Nagercoil.

Introduction :

8.      Mrs. Patience [d/o Mr. Moses Devadasan].

             Mrs. Patience [W] and Mr. Dhanaraj [H].

Mrs. Patience Dhanaraj was the 8th child of Mr Moses Devadasan .After  her

School education she did her collegiate education at the famous Sarah Tucker 

College , Palayam Kottai. After her graduation  she worked as a Teacher at the 
famous Duthie Girls High School, Nagercoil. Ms. Patience married Mr. Dhanaraj 

,a son of Mr.J.T. Ambrose of Nagecoil. It is apt to mention here that Mr Dhanaraj's

sister Mrs Daya Mauel was the mother of the world famous Pianist Padma Shri

Handel Manuel. Mr Dhanaraj's another brother Mr.Mahimai Das Victor 

Ambrose,served as Secretary of theTamilnadu PublicServiceCommission .

Mr .Victor Ambrose married Ms Saratha,  a great granddaughter of the 

Christian Poet Mr. John Palmer. Mr . Dhanaraj died at an early age,.

9.     Ms Bernice is the 9th child of Mr Moses Devadasan 
              Ms. Bernice [w[ and Mr. Paul Ebenezer [H]
                                        
                                     
Ms Bernice   d/o Mr. Moses Devadasan, after her Matriculation, continued

her Collegiate education at the famous Sarah Tucker College, Palayam Kottai.

After her collegiate education she worked for some years at the famous

Duthie Girls High School, Nagercoil . She married her cousin Mr. Paul Ebenezer, 

son of  Mr Moses Devadasan's sister Ms Gnambal. Soon after the marriage Ms

Bernice Paul Ebenezer moved to Ceylon with her family. Mr Paul Ebenezer worked 

as  Head  Tea- Maker  in a Tea Estate in Ceylon. . During this period of time, as the Second            
World war broke out ,again Ms Bernice with her family returned to Nagercoil  on 

the request of her eldest brother  Mr. D.M.Devasahayam , B.D [ DMD was the the
first B. D,in the wholeof India , Serampore University] and Paul Ebenezer took charge
of theWoodlandsEstate[Woodlands Estate was originally owned by Bishop Dr. Robert
Caldwell].Paul Ebenezer and his family built a beautiful house at Mead Street, Nagercoil

and resided in the same house for the rest of their life  During 1960 ies 

Mr Paul Ebenezer died and his wife Ms. Bernice also died after a few years.

Ms. Bernice and Mr Paul Ebenezer couple was blessed with the

following Children

9-1- [1]  Mr.   Barnabas Dharmaputra,[eldest Son] 
        [2]  Mrs.  Padma  [ Was the only daughter and she died as a spinster ]
        [3]  Mr.   Leslie Janakiraman 
        [4]  Mr.   George
        [5]  Mr.   Alexander Devadas
        [6]  Mr.   Clement Mohan Das
9-1- [7]  Mr.   Paul Surendra [ the last son of Bernice].

9-1-[1]   Mr.   Barnabas Dharmaputra 
         

Mr Barnabas  Dharmaputra was the first born child of Mrs Bernice and Ebenezer
After his matriculation Mr Barnabas joined Indian Air Force  and after  some years of service

with Indian Air Force he got a job in the Food Corporation of India , Cuddalore. After some years

with the FCI he got a good job in Customs Department , Govt of India, in Madras.  Due to  his       

unblemished character and dedication  he was quickly promoted to the cadre of Deputy

Superintendent of Customs and he was privileged to work in Madras till his death . Mr Barnabas
married Ms. Alice a daughter of the great Artist Mr A.P. Chelliah of  Cine Field .It is pertinent

here to remember the historical  fact that Artist AP Chelliah had the privilege to serve as the Art

Director of the famous Cinema Charanrleka produced  in  a grand scale by Gemini Studio Owner

Mr Vasan.  Ms Alice B Dharmaputra and Mr Barnabas Dharmaputra couple was blessed with two
smart daughters namely :[1] Ms Anitha Spurgeon , and [2] Ms.  Sunitha  Paul Devendran.
Unfortunately Mr Barnabas Dharmaputra happened to die 10 years before his regular retirement date. On
compassionate ground his daughter Anitha got a job in the Customs Department.

9-1[1]-A.   Ms Anitha is the eldest daughter of  Mr Barnabas Dharmaputra  and Mrs Alice Barnabas couple. Ms Anitha married Mr Spurgeon , son of Christy , from Nagercoil [  Mr. Spurgeon

is a Grandson of   the famous Thumbu Office Samuel ].. Mrs Anitha and  Mr.Spurgeon couple is blessed with one son  and one daughter namely ;[1] Emmanueal Christopher, [2] Ms.Ann Sarojiline. Ms. Ann Sarojiline is a product of the famous Sathyabama deemed University, Chennai and she is a Computer Engineer. Now Ms Anitha Spurgeon is working as Superintendent in the Customs Department , Govt of India ,Chennai

Arul Muthiah  and his Career as Scientist:  After  having passed his ME  with distinction , M Arul Muthiah joined the prestigious National Institute of  Ocean Technology [NIOT] , Chennnai as Scientist  in 2003 and since then he has been working as Scientist in NIOT in very efficacious and innovative manner.

Indian Scientists Team consisting of M Arul Muthiah installed  IndARC in North Pole in Arctic : An Indian team of scientists, consisting of M. Arul Muthiah ventured and visited Arctic and had successfully installed,  India's first multi sensor moored Observatory. IndARC, near North Pole in July 2014. .  The Ministry of Earth , Govt of India considered and  described this achievement as a major break-through  and milestone in India's endeavor in the arctic region.  As there is a Tele link between Indian monsoon and Arctic, the data that India would collect in the Arctic using this indigenously developed observatory IndARC would be very helpful  to know more about Indian  Monsoon  tele connection and climate studies .. By deploying IndARC in the Arctic region , India has joined an Elite league of nations , who  have moored Observatories in the harsh polar conditions in the Arctic. Moreover  the Sea Truth data that India  gets form the frigid waters of the Arctic through IndARC could give immense opportunities to Scientists and Researchers .India's break through in this respect has been endorsed by International Arctic Science Committee, the Apex Body governing Scientific affairs in the Arctic. So Government of India decided to honor the concerned  team  of Scientists connected with IndARC. with National Geoscience Award

The Govt of India Honored M Arul Muthiah with the prestigious  the Geoscience Award for 2014: Definitely recognition with Awards makes the Recipients more happy and galvanize them to work more with dedication  and interest. National Geoscience Award was instituted by the Ministry of Mnes in 1966 to honor individuals and team of Scientists for their extraordinary achievement and outstanding contribution in fundamental and applied Geoscience and Mining and allied fields. In recognition of the significant contribution in the field of Glaciology and Arctic and Antarctic research , Hon'ble  President of India Sri Pranab Mukherjee, presented the National Geoscience Awards-2014 to Dr. R.Vekatesan [Scintist-G], Mr.M. Kesavakumar [Scinetist-C] , of Ocean Observation Systems , N.I.O.T, on 5th April , 2016, at a function held at Rashtrpari Bhavan, New Delhi,. in the presence of Central Ministers  and high dignitaries.

Scientist .M Arul Muthiah  and his Parents and Birth: M. Arul Muthiah was   born to Mr. M. Monickavasagam and Mrs Kasthurui Monickavasagam at Ganesapuram , Nagercoil, Kanyakumari District on 25th October ,1977 . Mr. M. Monickavasagam served in Tamil Nadu Electricity Board and retired as Assistant Accounts officer. And it is really interesting to remember Mr.A. Muthiah , father of Mr Monickavasagam, who worked with the Treasury Department, Govt of Tamil Nadu and retired as Sub Treasury Officer.

Musical Prodigy Violinist Mr.Jehshua Karunakaran [U.S ] gave a Violin Performance at the United Nations [U.N ] Building at the age of 15. Part A

Introduction : Young  blooming Violinist Jehshua karunakaran of Reston , USA is one of the most promising and outstanding Violinists  of the 21st century  and he had the rare privilege to give his Violin Performance  at the United Nations Building on 11th September 2009 at the young age of 15. He can be definitely called  a musical prodigy and  I am really delighted to write about   his great musical accomplishments in  this Article. Some Descendants of some of our pioneer Christian families of Nagercoil , have produced some outstanding and highly gifted Musicians of global standard like Padma Shri Handel Manuel, Dr. Anand Chellappa, and a few others and now young blooming and promising Violinist Mr Jeshua Karunakaran has joined their row..  It is our duty to appreciate the Achievers who are connected to Kanyakumari District, Tamil Nadu and India  I am happy to mention that Violinist Jehshua Karunakarn's mother Mrs Rachel karunakaran is related to the great Musicians Padma Shri Handel Manuel [Chennai] and great  Christian Music Composer and Accordionist Dr. Anand Chellappa [U.S ] . I am really glad to introduce  this great young Violinist and Musician  Mr Jehshua Karunakaran the  winner of  the First Place in the Advanced Division of WPAS's , 38th Feder String Competition, at the age of 14.

Jehshua Karunakaran, his Birth and  Parents:  Mr. karunakaran   and Mrs Rachel Karunakaran are the blessed Parents of   Jehsua Karunakaran . Mr kaunakaran and his beloved wife Mrs Rachel  Karunakaran are living in Reston, VA, United States America. Mr. Jehshua was born on 26, May 1994 and Jehshua Karunakaran  is the only child to his parents. As Jehshua's Parents are having natural flair for Music  they supported Jehshua Karunakaran  in his musical journey with great sacrifice.  Jeshshua's mother Mrs Rachel Karunakaran hails from  one of the outstanding musical families of South India [ Family of Padma Shree Handel Manuel and Dr. Anand Chellappa] it was she who convinced young Jehshua to learn Violin instead of Guitar.


Jehshua Karunakaran and his Educational Track :  Jehshua Karunakarna showed great interest for learning since his childhood. Jehshua karunakaran did his  High School studies in the famous Northern Virginia Christian Academy and graduated in 2009. Along with music and string he had sound thirst for academic education also. He received his associate degree from the Northern Virginia Community College.  Mr. Jehshua karunakaran was a student at the prestigious The Juilliard Music School in the Pre-College Division, [ Diploma, Violin performance -2009-2012 ]. He did his Bachelor Degree [ Liberal Art, Biology/Biological Sciences, General ] at the famous Harvard University [2010-2013].. .He did his Master of Science [M.S] in Biotechnology at the famous The John's Hopkins University [2015 to 2016].

His Musical Training and Education ; Mr. Jehshua Karunakaran  is a born Musician of very high order. Since childhood Jehshua  karunakaran was spontaneously and magnetically attracted towards music specially to string music  Mr. Jehshua karunakaran started to learn and play Violin and Piano at the tender age of 6 ..   His parents gave spontaneous and galvanising encouragement and supported  young Jehsua Karunakaran, to develop his talents in music as per his own choice.  Jehsua Karaunakaran was privileged to learn Violin  for six years with the  internationally famous Violin Teacher Ms.Olga Khroulevitch , before joining , Julliard School for  music training.   It is not easy to get admission at the internationally acclaimed  Juilliard School, Manhatttan, NewYork , but young Jehshua Kaurankaran got admission at the prestigious Juilliard School by giving a convincing  audition in person before the faculty and administrative members of the Julliard school .He was admitted  in the Pre-College Division  [Diploma , Violin Performance,] in the Julliard Juilliard School. During the years from 2009 to 2012, Jehshua was doing his Pre-College Division Diploma Course in Violin Performance in the famous Julliard Music School , New York. During  the years from 2009 to 2012 as a student he had the privilege to learn Violin from the internationally acclaimed Violin Teacher Mr. Lewis Kaplan.  Jehshua Karunakaran was a member of the Juilliard Pre College Chamber Ensemble or Orchestra and High School Chorus.

Jehshua Karunakaran and his first music teacher Olga  Khrouletvich:  Before joining the Pre-College Division  at  the Juilliard School, New York;  Jehshua karunakaran had the rare privilege to study for 6 years with the  outstanding and internationally acclaimed Violin Teacher Ms. Olga De Valvo Khroulevitch at the Levine School of Music in Washington D.C, USA . Before proceeding further  it is appropriate to get some basic information about Jehshua's first Violin Teacher Ms.Olga Khroulevitch. Ms.Olga.Khroulevitch  has been  honoured with, "Outstanding Musicians of the Twentieth century" Award and "One Thousand Great American "  Citation and Award.. Definitely it was a great blessing and  privilege to young Jehshua Karunakaran to  have Professor of Violin, Ms Olga Khrouletvitch as  his Violin teacher. As an young violin student Jehshua  karunakaran , impressed his violin Professor Ms. Olga very much. Though Violinist  Jehshua Karunakaran has got many honours and awards for his musical talent ,  the words of appreciation he has received from his Music teacher  Ms Loga Khrouevitch  deserves a special mention here, Olga Khroulevitch said, "Jehshua has tremendous insight into music that keeps the audience on the edge of their seats.".

Introduction : My mind is always taken aback with awesome admiration whenever I  read and write about the lively  life track of the Great Tamil Christian Poet Mr John Palmer[ 1812 -1883] and his  remarkable descendants. In this Article , I exclusively deal with the profiles of John Palmer's son Mr Solomon Palmer and his children, and his direct descendants.. Solomon Palmer was the father-in law of Rev Gnanamuthu Jesudasan , [who was responsible for the establishment of MELIM [IELC]Church  in South Travancore].

Mr.Joshua J Oliver  has passed his BA in English Literature and also has passed his Post Graduate Theological Degree course called M.A.B.S. [Master of Arts in Biblical Studies]. He is really a multifaceted personality. and he is highly gifted and talented Musician .. Joshua Oliver is a great accomplished Guitarist, excellent Key Board Player, Drummer, highly talented Singer and a powerful and eloquent Speaker and Preacher. Joshua J Oliver is also an inspiring Worship Leader, great Singer both in English and Tamil and a promising Music Composer. Mr Joshua has married Ms. Mercy Fredia , M.Pharm and Joshua Freda Oliver couple is blessed a lovely smart son namely Jason Toby Oliver [1year old].

Pastor Joshua John Oliver and Nesarin Satham  Church : An Idependent Christian Church or  Sabai called Nesarin Satham Church was founded by Rev Ebenezer  Prabakaran in Chennai, in 1986 with great vision and  only with 7 believers and now this Church  is being attended by nearly 100 families; and also this Nesarin Satham Church has 7 branches. Pastor Joshua John Oliver is working  as a Pastor in this Nesarin Satham Church along with his father Pastor  Rev Ebenezer Prabakaran and assists his father , in an effective  and fruitful manner

Josh Academy of Music and Joshua John Oliver :  Mr Joahua John Oliver is a gifted, born trained and creative musician and as a corollary he has established a Music School namely Josh Academy of Music  in Chennai and this Music School is affiliated to the Trinity School of Music London . Mr Joshua John Oliver  is an excellent music Teacher and he shapes   his students as efficient Guitarists , key Board Players and Drummers,etc,. So far he has trained nearly 1000 students in  his Josh Academy of Music and today his students are shinning well in the music filed as Music teachers and Musicians. and some have started their own music Schools.

[C]Ms Jessie Esther  Angel :Ms Lucy Sulochana and Rev Ebenzer Prabakaran couple's daughter Jessie Esther Angel is working as Government School Teacher in Thirupathur. Ms  Jessie Esther Angel has married Pastor Samuel Backyaraj. and this lovely couple is blessed three beautiful and smart children namely;[1]Jesyn Shebaniya [3years], [2] Jotham Silas [ 3 years], and Joel Titus [ 2 years]. Jessie E. Angel is also a talented Singer like the rest his siblings; She is a gifted Tamil Christian  song writer , music composer and singer. Ms Jessie Esther Samuel Backyaraj has composed, sung and released many melodious Christian Albums of her own. She is a promising  and upcoming Christian song writer and composer.

Stephens Reginald Manoharan was a former Director General Of Human Resource Department [ Labor Dept], Government of Malaysia and also he served as First Secretary, in the Malaysian Embassy in United Nations.

Conclusion : Thus  the Great Christian Tamil Poet John Palmer's descendants colorfully decorated their respective fields by their enviable education , and accomplishments.  Definitely I faced many impediments  while tracing the genealogy of Mr John Palmer and his descendants .  No doubt I can say that John Palmers's family is one of the illustrious Christian families in Asia.  I have tried my best to give correct information about John Palmer and his son Solomon Palmer and his descendants  ,. Former Secretary to the Govt of Travnacore the Remarkble Shri.Gnana Joshua , B.A,.

Introduction ; Late Mr Gnanamuthu Joshua, B.A, was really a remarkable person ; he was a multifaceted personality, an unsung Hero,  educational and social Reformer and he was a Force; generally he was called as Gnana Joshua . He and his illustrious brother late Rev  Gnanamuthu Jesudasan [ Rev Gnanamuthu Jesudasan, was mainly instrumental in bringing the Missouri Evangelical Lutheran India Mission [MELIM] Missionaries to Kanyakumari District and also Rev Jesudasan was the first ordained Indian MELIM  Lutheran Pastor in India] were really outstanding  persons and both of them had done outstanding service to the cause of Social Justice, Cultural Renaissance,Christianity and  People's Education   In a sense they were social revolutionaries and they had become a part of the social, religious and educational history of Travancore and South India. In short  these two  outstanding brothers were trendsetters of their time.

Gnana Joshua's Parents and Birth : Gnana Joshua's father Mr. Gnanamuthu  hailed from a tiny village called Uthirappatti, located on the fertile banks of the ancient  river Pazhayar , near Suchindrum , Agasteeswaram taluk, Kanyakumari District and Joshua' mother Mrs Saratha Gnanamuthu  hailed from the family of Maharasan Vethamonicakm of South Travancore [Kayakumari Dist].. It will be useful to mention here that  later Mrs Saratha Gnanamuthu's younger son Rev Jesudasan's daughter was also named as Saratha in remembrance Mrs Sartha Gnamauthu. Rev G. Jesudasan married Ms Manonmani Solomon Palmer., a granddaughter of  Christian Tamil Poet Mr John Palmer.]  Mr Gnana Joshua's exat date of birth is not known , however we can infer and  say he would have born  most probably in the year 1870..[ His younger brother Rev.G. Jesudasan was born in June , 1872, in Kandy, Srilanka ].

Gnana Joshua's Wife and Children : Mr Gnana Joshua married Ms Perinbam Ammal most probably  in 1914 [ The base for my inference .is that the first child of Mr.Gnana Joshua and Mrs. Perinbam Ammal Gnana Joshua couple, Mrs. Edith Rajambal K.V Joseph Natarajan was born on 20th October, 1915, in Trivandrum ] and this beautiful  Gnana Joshua and Perinabam Ammal couple  was blessed with eight lovely children namely; [1] Ms. Edith Rajambal  [Mrs Edith Rajambal efficaiously worked as Headmistress at Karaikudi Menakshi Girls High School ], [2] Ms. Lily Pushpam, [3] Ms Clara Christambal, [4] Ms. Sara Navamani ,[5] Mary Ranjitham ,[6]Ms. Joanna Ratinam ,[7] Mrs. Lizzy Muthammal and[8] Ms. Sugirthambal Joshua.. It is pertinent here to remember  that Mr Gnana Joshua's illustrious relative Poet John Palmer's wife's name was also Ms Perinbam Ammal.

Gnana Joshua Joined the Travancore Government Service. ; Mr Gnana Joshua  hailed from one of the very influential and illustrious Christian families of Travancore. Mr Gnana Joshua did his early education in Srilanka  and came to India for higher studies.  After  receiving his BA degree [in 19th century] Mr Gnana Joshua  joined as a Civil Servant in the Government of Travancore State.  It is apt to mention here that Mr Gna Joshua was one of the pioneer  B.A, degree holders in South Travancore..During that period  while Gnana Joshua  was working as a  Senior Civil Servant in the Travancore Government , his relative Mr C.M Agur B.A was working as Office Manger at the Honorable British  Residents' Office in  Trivnadrum . Mr.Gnana Joshua's  younger brother Mr Gnanamuthu Jesusdasan also was working as Personal Secretary to the then British Resident , Trivandrum.. Gnana Joshua had the privilege to work in a colorful  and distinctive manner  as Education and Finance Secretary  in the Travancore Government. Mr Gnana Joshua maintained a good rapport with the British Resident and the Maharaja of Travancore. Mr Gnana Joshua earned the good will and respect of the Maharaja of Travancore for his integrity and efficacious  hard work Mr Gnana Joshua in his capacity as Education Secretary  introduced many  outstanding educational reforms in the educational policy of the Government of Travancore.


Conclusion ;   The then Maharaja of Travancore  highly appreciated the  outstanding service rendered by Mr Gnana Joshua, B.A, to the people of Travancore state and nominated him  as a Member in the Sri Chitra Legislative  Council and Sri.Gnana Joshua served the Legislative Council in a colorful, distinguished and enviable way. Unfortunately the last end of Mr Gnana Joshua's life is  not clear in the History.  Any how some of  the educational  and social reforms introduced by him had helped many poor students  to come up in education and life. Really Mr Gnana Joshua achieved greatness by his  visionary and honest actions. and accomplishments. Actually  we  and Indian  history need his  Biography. Mr Gnana Joshua , B.A, lived up to the level of his name's meaning and significance and he will live for ever in our minds.

Rt. Rev.Dr.S Batumalai and his Siblings: Mr Sadayandy from the comely Cluny Estate, near Slim River, West Malaysia  and  his beloved wife Mrs Ammakannu Sadayandy were blessed with two smart sons and two  lovely daughters namely : [1] Mr S Batumalai Sadayandy, [2] Mr.S Kanny Sadayandy ,[3] Ms.S. Kanniamma ,  [2] Ms.S. Rajamma,.  It is pertinent here to say something about Mr.Kanny Sadayandy. Mr Kany Sadayandy  was probably the first Indian to hold the post  of Director of the Malaysian Industries Development Authority,[MIDA}, Government of Malaysia. . .

Rt Rev Dr S Batumalai and his wife and Children :  Rev Dr S Batumalai  and his lovely wife Mrs Elizabeth Batumalai are blessed with one smart son by name Mr Devanandan Palmer Batumalai and a beautiful daughter by name Mrs Shobanam . Dr.S Batumali has two lovely grandchildren namely: Adam and Noah. and these two grandchildren are the joy  and bliss  to Dr. S Batumalai in his old age.

Rev. S. Batumalai's  Ordination and  Theological Education :  After taking  Baptism young Batumalai willingly became a Volunteer with the OMF that was functioning in his locality and  surroundings The OMF[Overseas Missionary fellowship ] and a local Tamil  Clergy  belonging to Anglican Church sowed the seed  for Christian Ministry in the mind of young S. Batumalai . Accordingly Young S. Batumali committed him self for Lord's Ministry.  Young  S. Batumali  had to work very hard to secure a HSC  to join Trinity Theological College, Singapore. for theological study.  Mr S. Batumali worked as Evangelist for 2 years, before he was ordained as a regular Anglican Church Clergy in the Anglican Diocese of West Malaysia.. Anglican Bishop Rt Rev Dr..John G Savarimuthu [1972-1994, West Malaysia Anglican Diocese ], encouraged, motivated and inspired  our young Rev S. Batumalai as a god-father, to secure his B.D and M.Min and other educational degrees..

Some High-Lights on Rev S. Batumlai's Clergical Career and Education  :  During the period between 1973 and 1981,  Rev S. Batumalai served as Anglican Clergy  at the Church of the Holy Spirit , IOPH . West Malaysia .

Rev S Batumalai's intellectual inclination and excellent aptitude for higher learning took Rev S. Batumalai to England for Higher  Theological Studies.. Rev. S Batumalai  joined the famous Birmingham University for his Ph.D in Theology in 1981, and successfully passed his prestigious  Ph.D  degree course in 1984.

From 1984 till 1990, Rev S Batumalai functioned as a Dean of Students and  Acting  Principal at the famous Seminary Theology Malaysia [STM]. with great dedication and distinction
During the period between 1990 and 1991 Dr. S Batumalai had the distinctive privilege to  serve as a Teaching Staff at the famous Anglican College of Ascension , Birmingham University, UK. and during this period Rev Dr S Batumalai successfully completed an M. Phil in Islam from the famous Birmingham University, England. 

From 1991 till 2000, Dr S Batumalai served as an Archdeacon of Perak and Vicar of St Johns , Ipoh. West Malaysia. During 2000-2011 Dr. S Batumalai  served as Archdeacon of Johor, Melaka, and Nefri Sembilan and Vicar of Christ Church Melaka.

Dr. S. Batumalai was consecrated as Assistant Anglican  Bishop:  During while Rev Dr. S Batumalai was working as Vicar of Christ Church, Malacca, Malaysia ; Rev Dr S Batumalai was consecrated as Assistant Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of West Malaysia on Thursday , 27 th November ,2008 at St Mary's Cathedral ,in Kuala Lumpur , Malaysia.

Rt. Rev Dr. S. Batumali is An Outstanding Writer : It is said that Rt. Rev. Dr. S Batumal wrote many books in English , to incite and inspire Christians to think . He has written many thought provoking books , and some of his  famous books are given below:

Batumalai, that earned him the Title Datuk . Rt. Rev. Dr. S. Batumalai retired from active service as Bishop in 2011.He is one of the greatest authorities on Asian Theology and Islam. His remarkable books have been decorating many famous public and private Libraries throughout the world. Rt Rev Dr. S Batumalai .Ph.D,[U.K.] by hard work and perseverance and  grit  has reached great enviable heights from the plains of Cluny Estate . We are proud of  Rt. Rev. Datuk. Dr. S. Batumali. Intoroduction:  Former Assistant Bishop of the Anglican Diocese  in West Malaysia Rt Rev Ven. Dr. S Batumalai, M.Phil, Ph.D [ U.K] is one of the greatest Theologians in Asia , and  was a prolific Writer, original Thinker, Reader , Scholar ,etc,.. He has penned so many outstanding books on Theology specially on Asian Theology and Anglican Church history. He is a many faceted personality. His biography and unrelenting struggle for his principles and good convictions will be immensely useful to the readers, researchers and the younger generation in many ways.

Dr. S. Batumalai's Birth and Parents:   Long time ago during nineteen forties  , a hard working, smart and a flourishing young Tamil  man  from Southern Tamil Nadu by name  Mr. Sadayandy  was happily working as a successful Plantation Supervisor in the idyllic and colorful  Cluny  Estate near Slim River in Perak, West Malaysia , with his beautiful and smart wife Mrs. Ammakkannu Sadayandy  and  during those lovely period in 1946 a beautiful boy child was born to them ;and Mr. Sadayandy and   Mrs.Ammakkannu Sudalayandy christened their  boy son  with the name Batumalai.


Mr S. Batumalai's Early  School Education : As our Bishop Dr Batumalai happened to born in a cottage located among the tall rubber trees in the Cluny Estate , near Slim River, he did his Primary School education in the schools located in the Estate and at St. Paul's at Slim River. Even though Mr Sadayandy worked only as a Rubber Plantation Supervisor , he was a different man ; he thought and acted differently and distinctively.. He eagerly longed to give a better life to his son Batumalai and  so acted accordingly. As an independent thinker Mr Sadayandy thought that  the future of his beloved descendants lies in the town , Christianity and English education and so  he acted accordingly. Dr.S Batumalai  is one of the famous former students of the famous Anglo Chinese School [ACS ],at IPOH, Malaysia . Mr Batumalai married Ms Elizabeth Ananthan Swamithason Palmer:  Rev S Batumalai married Ms Elizabeh Aanthan Swaamithason Palmer,  daughter of Mr Ananthan Swamithason Palmer . Mrs Elizabeth Batumali is a direct descendant of the great Christian Poet Mr John Palmer of Nagercoil , Kanyakumari District in Tamil Nadu. Mr.S. Batumali married Ms Elizabeth ,daughter of Mr. Ananthan Swamithason Palmer. In this context  it is appropriate to give some reference, in the larger interest of the readers,  about Mrs Elizabeth's family back ground. Mrs Elizabeth Sadayandy, hailed from one of the pioneer and illustrious Christian Families of Nagercoil , kanyakumarai Dist, Tamil Nadu [then  South Travancore] . .Mrs.Datin Elizabeth Sadayandy is one of the direct descendants of the great Tamil Christian  Poet , Mr John Palmer[ John Palmer was born at Mylaudy in 1812, near Nagercoil , in the then  Travancore State]. .Our great Christian Tamil Poet Mr John Palmer had written many famous and popular Tamil Christian Lyrics , and  in this context  I would like to cite a few songs as ready reference [1],Thevaathi Thevaa Thirumarai Aruzhiya ..,[2]karunahara Theva Eranki Intha, [3]Aa Vaarum  Naam Ellarum Koodi Mahil Kondaduvom [4]Beththalaiyil Piranthavarai Pottiththuthi Manama ,[5] Enna Paadu  Patteer Iya Ennai Retchikka ..,[6] Vaaraa Vinai Vanthaalum Choraatha Manama [7] Yesuva kirubasanapathiya Ketta Izhinjan Enai.... .[8] Aaritdahil Yahuvan Nan Aathri Iya.,etc, And these Tamil Christain  songs of John Palmer are being sung by Tamil Christians in  Tamil Churches  throughout  the world during worship.services. Mrs  Datin Elizabeth Batumalai's genealogical link with the great Tamil Christian Poet Mr John Palmer :
Great Tamil Christian Poet Mr. John Palmer  begot Mr Retnam Palmer , and Mr Retnam Palmer begot Mr Ananthan Swamithason Palmer , and Mr Ananthan Swamithason Palmer  begot Mr William Thason Palmer and Ms.Elizabeth Ananthan  Swamithason Palmer. Ms Elizabeth Ananthan Swamithason Palmer married Rt Rev Dr S. Batumalai. Mr William Thasan Palmer begot Mr. Manohar Andrew Palmer and Ms Alice Rajamanohari . In this context it is good  to say something about the great Christian Tamil Poet John Palmer.  Mr John Palmer was working as  Native Assistant and Tamil tutor to the famous  English L.M.S. Missionary Rev Charles Mault in South Travancore . And  Bishop Caldwell the great Linguist and author of the epoch making book "THE COMPARATIVE GRAMMAR OF DRAVIDIAN LANGUAGES,"  married Rev Charles Mault's beloved daughter Ms. Eliza Mault, at Nagercoil Home Church, in 1844, during that period Mr John Palmer was working as Native Assistant to Rev. Charles Mault..

Former Bishop of Methodist Church in Malaysia and Singapore Rt.Rev .Dr. Theodore R Doraisamy, M.A, D.Th,. Part Final

 Bishop Dr.Theodore R Doraisamy's Trajectory of episcopal career:  Bishop Theodore R Doraisamy  was having a distinctive working career and tract. He was working as a  Full Time Teacher, in the Education Department as a Civil Servant  in Singapore  and also he was working as Self Supporting Part Time Methodist Pastor. While he was serving as Pastor in the Pasir Pajang Tamil Wesley and Tamil Methodist Church[Short St , Singapore] he earned his prestigious Master Degree in Theology from the famous Boston University School of Theology for his thought provoking Thesis 'A Philosophy for the Mission of the Church in Malaysia '

TRD Worked as Secretary For Methodist Youth fellowship:

In  August 1946, TRD  had the rare privilege to work as Secretary for Methodist Youth Fellowship and Young People's work.  In this capacity he efficaciously worked till 1963 and was instrumental for development and growth of MYF[Methodist Youth Fellowship].  In 1947 TRD had the privilege to serve as Secretary of Christian Education [ Methodist Church ] and also supervised Sunday Schools , Methodist Youth fellowship .In 1960 TRD  got the privilege to work as District Superintendent [Methodist Church in Singapore and Malaysia ] .. His unique and milestone accomplishment was .his ability to convince the Methodist General Conference, USA to agree for the formation of  an Autonomous Methodist Church in Malaysia and Singapore

TRD was consecrated as Bishop :  Minister Theodore Royapan Doraisamy was having a long and prolific record  as a  Minister of the Methodist Church .In December 1973, Rev. Theodore Rayapan Doraisamy was elected as Bishop of the Methodist Church in Malaysia and Singapore, at the  3 day special session of the General Conference at Trinity Theological College, Singapore.  . The election was the toughest in the history of the local Methodist Church in Malaysia and Singapore.  The newly elected Bishop of Methodist Church in Malaysia and Singapore Rt. Rev.Dr.Theodore Royapan Doraisamy was consecrated at the Wesley Methodist Church, Singapore  by Bishop Rt Rev Kim Hao  With great dedication and sincere commitment TRD discharged his official duties as Bishop for three years, from December 1973 till he stepped down in 1976.

Bishop Dr. Theodore R Doraisamy was a prolific Writer : Dr. Theodore Doraisamy was a born creative and prolific writer of great standard and caliber.. He had written and  edited many magazines , books and official publications. He had penned his autobiography, in an elegant style in English, under the title , MY CUP RUNNETH OVER" His autobiography not only deals with his personal history but also it deals with the contemporary social, educational ,political and religious history of Malaysia and Singapore. Bishop Theodore R Doraisamy had authored many thought provoking books on History,Education, Sociology, Theology,etc, in English. To cite a few:

Bishop Theodore R Doraisamy was appointed as Bishop Emeritus : Bishop Rt. Rev.Dr Theodore R. Doraisamy was serving and discharging his episcopal responsibilities with rare distinction and dedication with intellectual  and social vision but due to some inevitable  political and and administrative reasons, Bishop Rt Rev Dr. Theodre R Doraisamy stepped down from his Bishop post. in 1976.  But in the same year [1976 ] Rev. Dr. Theodore R Doraisamy was conferred  and made as   honorary  Bishop Emeritus of Methodist Church, in Singapore, in recognition of his laudable and outstanding service to Methodist Church in Singapore.

Bishop Emeritus Rev Dr, Theodore R Doraisamy was dead : Till his death,  Bishop Emeritus Dr Theodre R Doraisamy's fingers were writing thoughtful and meaningful lines in mesmerizing English for the welfare of human-beings and glory of God. . But unfortunately our beloved and respected Bishop Emeritus Dr Theodore  Doraisamy  passed away from this world due to heart attack, in the famous National University Hospital, Singapore , in  June 1992.


Conclusion: Bishop Emeritus Dr Theodore Royapan Doraisamy was an outstanding Theologian, Church Historian, Thinker, Writer and staunch Methodist. . He was a versatile and vibrant personality , he was a force, a man of vision and a man of letters. He was a prolific writer ,creative thinker, humanist, educationist and administrator. . He was one of the pillars of the Methodist Church in Singapore and Malaysia. He was one of the intellectual authorities on Methodism and books penned by him are used as reference books for the study of Methodism in Theological colleges throughout the world . His educational, intellectual,writing  and ecumenical contributions had installed him as an important milestone in the educational, religious and intellectual history of Malaysia and Singapore. and Asia. He considered Education and Evangelism as his two eyes. Bishop Dr.Theodore R Doraisamy was awarded Gold Medal for Public Adminstration by the Government of Singapore in recognition of  his outstanding and enviable contribution to  the cause Education.
