V.M . John opened the first Head Quaters of DMK in Chennai on 17th September , 1949 : VM John was a social and political  thinker and he was much attracted by the  eloquent oration of CN. Annadurai and his political and social views.   V.M John was working as Government Male Nurse at Kottar Head Quarters Hospital and as he was spontaneously   pulled towards politics he resigned the   job  to devote his  full time  and resources for the cause of the  just started DMK Party.   Within a short span of time he was appointed  by C.N.Annadurai , as the  Kanyakumari District Secretary of the DMK.. VM John's  devotion,  zeal , efficient enthusiasm, his accomplishment and radical and innovative thinking attracted and impressed CN Annadurai very much . And when DMK purchased a building at Surya Narayana  Chetty Street in Madras a for DMK's Head Quarters , Annadurai  gave the honor and privilege to Mr. VM John   to open the first Head Quarter's building of the DMK, in Chennai.on 17th September , 1949  . It was really an unique honour to V.M.John and to the people of Kanyakumari District. . John rubbed his shoulders with all the founding and tall  leaders of the DMK. He was   very close with EVK Sampath also. .  VMJ was very bold , and out spoken and his quick rise in the party  became the envy of many leaders in the DMK, but Anna had a soft corner for V.M .John always. . Due to some political and personal reasons V.M John resigned from the  DMK at a crucial and wrong  time and spoiled his political future. VM John's resignation from the DMK Party was felt very much by C.N.Annadurai.

V.M.John and Namthamizha Party: After resigning from the DMK , VM.John joined the Nam Thamizhar Party of C.Pa. Athithanar and served as the Kankumaari District  President of Namthamizhar Party.  He took an active part in the Anti Hindi Agitation and was jailed for the same for 6 months.

Conclusion: V.M.John  selflessly spent his valuable time  and resources for  the  growth and future  of   the DMK Party  in the initial stage and period  . He even resigned his Government job to devote his full time service to the DMK Party . Poltically he was very active and   efficacious but he failed to follow some political strategies . Without flexibility and  some pretentious action it is not possible to survive and succeed in politics..  It is said that even after having come to the power C.N.Annaduarai tried to bring back V.M .John to DMK Party , but V.M.John's  stubborn  and rigid ego never allowed John for a compromise.  Ye  till his death on 2nd February , 1983,  V.M. John  was living like a Lion but he never compromised himself to eat the green grass of  political power for personal glory..

Mr . Handel Manuel was given the rare privilege to do the harmonization of the Indian National Anthem and he accomplished the job in an excellent and enviable manner .The British press reported :" The Westminister Choir was led in a very fine performance of the Indian national Anthem by Handel Manuel" .

Handel Manuel was really a remarkable man ,he was at his ease in the company of the elite and was equally with humbler common people. He kept himself in constant touch with the Consul Generals of Germany ,  the USA. The USSR, the British Dy. The renowned American composer  ALAN HOVHANESS has dedicated his  "Arjuna Symphony" and "An Organ Sonata "  to Handel Manuel . In another occasion Handel Manuel was  invited from the audience by the renowned Gospel singer , MAHALIA JACKSON  to the stage to play at her concert in Chennai[Madras]; she has also dedicated one of her songs to Handel Manuel.

In 1978 , the wife of a former Chancellor of West Germany  visited Madras and as she wanted to visit places of interest and importance  in Madras, the German Consulate decided  to take her to  St. Andrew's Kirk as well ; so  the Consulate telephoned the Church in this regard . When she visited the St. Andrew's Church , Handel Manuel  happened to be there in the Church   and Mr. S.W. Chandra Dhas who was  in charge in respect of her visit to the Church,  introduced Handel Manuel to the former first lady of the West Germany. During his conversation Handel asked her if she would like to hear some organ music , she said yes and requested Handel to play something sad . S.W. Chandra  Dhas writes ,"Handel chose a Bach piece and the Honourable  Lady sat on a chair listening . I noticed tears rolling down her cheeks; Handel had touched her emotions, I was sure. When the music was over she thanked Handel profusely ; and as she was leaving , she extended an invitation to him saying ,'when you come to Germany next, do not hesitate to call on me' ",[ KIRKSPIRE, January 1995].
