Rev. William Tobias Ringeltaube's illustrious father Theologian Rev. Dr. Gottlieb Ringel Taube.

Introduction: Rev. William Tobias Ringel Taube's illustrious father Rev. Dr. Gottlieb Ringel Taube was a great sincere Pastor, Theologian and a forgotten and Unsung Hero. The name of Rev William Tobias Ringel Taube has become a part and parcel of the Protestant Christianity in Travancore. but his family background is not properly told to the Indian Christians. A perusal Rev. Dr. Gottlieb Ringel Taube will help us to evaluate the personality of his illustrious son Rev. W.T.  Ringel Taube. We are bound to thank Rev Gottlieb Ringel Taube for having given us the great Rishi Rev. William Tobias Ringel Taube. A perusal of Rev Dr. Gottlieb Ringel Taube will galvanise the readers to develop an interest on the history of missionaries and church history. 


                                                       


Rev. Dr. Gottlieb Ringel Taube

Rev. Gottenlieb Ringel Taube's Birth and Parents:  Long time ago there lived a pastor named Rev. Sylvius Ringel Taube with his beloved wife by name Ms. Anna Elizabeth in Grembozin [ Gramtschen ] in Europe. God blessed this couple with all the conjugal blessings and this couple gave birth to Rev Gottlieb Ringel Taube on the 24th, April, 1732 in Grembocin . Young Gottlieb spent his childhood in Toruri. Mr. Gottlieb Ringel Taube was taught by his father until 1747. Then Gottlieb Ringel Taube went to the Maria Magdalene Gymnasium in Breslau and this school was one of the most traditional German Language Gramma Schools, until the school was closed in 1945.  In Breslau he lived with Mrs. Grace's family, and he developed friendship with her son Mr Christian Garve.  Mr. Christian Garve later became a Writer and one of the famous moral philosophers of the late enlightenment along with Immanuel Kant and Moses Mendelssohn. In 1749 Gottlieb Ringel Taube began studying Theology in Halle and was interrupted for a private teaching job in Breslau and then continued his theology studies at the University of Leipzig, with full enthusiasm.

Rev. Gottllieb Ringel Taube and his Pastoral Career:   After having successfully completed his Theological Study Mr Gottlieb Ringel Taube was ordained and began his pastoral career as a Pastor in Scheidelwiz [ Szydlowice] in the Duchy of Brieg, Silesia, Poland, in the year 1760.

Rev. Gottlieb Ringel Taube's Wife and Children:  Rev. Gottlieb Ringeltaube married Ms. Johanna Theodora Plackwitz on 18th June ,1769, with her he lived his conjugal life for 45 years. God blessed, Rev Gottlieb Ringel Taube and Mrs Johanna Theodora Plackwitz with all the connubial blessings and this couple gave birth to the following children:[1] Rev. William Tobias Ringel Taube [born on 8th August 1770], [2] Mr. Ernest, [3] Mr. Charles, [4]Ms. Anna Chen. 



                                    HOLY TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, WARSAW.

Rev. Gottlieb Ringel Taube Served as the Pastor of Lutheran Congregation in Warsaw [ 1777- 1785]Rev. Gottlieb Ringel Taube served as the Pastor of the Lutheran Congregation in the famous Warsaw city, from 1777 to 1785 with great devotion and pastoral care. While serving in this Lutheran Congregation Rev Gottlieb Ringel Taube significantly contributed to the construction of the Holy Trinity Church, Warsaw, and this historical Church was consecrated on 30th December 1781. Currently this Holy Trinity Lutheran Church is the main and episcopal Church for the Evangelical Augsburg Church in Poland.  This Church was designed by Szymon Bogumil Zug, and it is one of the largest churches in Warsaw. This Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Warsaw, is one of the two Augsburg Evangelical Temples in the Warsaw city. 

Rev. Gottlieb Ringel Taube Worked as the Superintendent of the Principality [Govt] of Oels: In 1785 Rev Gottlieb Ringel Taube accepted the call to the Oels in Silesia.  In the Silesian Oels Rev Gottlieb Ringel Taube worked as the Superintendent of the Principality [ Government] of Oels, consistorial Councillor and ducal Court Chaplain of Prince Eugene of Wurttemberg. It was an honourable ecclesiastical privilege to Rev Gottlieb Ringel Taube.

Rev. Gottlieb Ringel Taube served as General Superintendent of Pomerania, in Szczecin:  Rev. Gottlieb Ringel Taube was appointed as the General Superintendent of Pomerania in Szczecin in the year 1792.  He succeeded Rev Frederich Christian Goring and Rev. Gottlieb Ringel Raube discharged his pastoral and official duties with great devotion, distinction and efficacy until his death on 25th May 1824.

Conclusion: Rev. Gottlieb Ringel Taube was a great Man of God and was a thinking Theologian.  The pious Christain life of his father Rev Sylvius Ringel Taube and the moral thinking of his philosopher friend Mr. Christian Garve influenced Rev. Gotlieb Ringel Taube so much. He decorated all of his ecclesiastical posts with Christian humility, honesty and responsibility. He not only preached the public but also, he brought up his son Rev William Tobias Ringel Taube in Christain faith, values and missionary spirit. It is good on our part to remember one important historical truth here that his son late Rev William Tobias Ringel taube laid the foundation for the spiritual, educational, cultural, awakening among the marginalised people in Travancore and he was the one who opened the doors of educational institutions to all sections of the people, and we can call him  as the father of modern education in South Travancore.  The University of Greifswald is one of the oldest Universities in Europe and it recognised Theologian Rev. Gottlieb Ringel Taube's merit and awarded him an Honorary Doctorate. It is not possible to cover all the aspects and chapters of Rev. Dr. Gottlieb Ringel Taube within the space of this Blogpost and so I will end this Blogpost with the following sentence, "Dear and respected Rev.
