Introduction    : Dr. Yesumithran Chellappa, M.B.B.S, is a Scion of an illustrious Christian family from Tamil Nadu and he is a humanitarian, Good Samaritan,  and compassionate Medical Doctor and his father late Dr. Ebenezer Sunderraj Chellappa,M.B.B.S,F.R.C.S served as Medical Superintendent of Christian Mission  Hospital Madurai and his father's elder brother late Rt.Rev. Dr. David Chellappa served as the first Indian C.S.I. Bishop of Madras Diocese and his elder brother late Dr. Anand Chellappa, M.B.B.S, F.A.A.P.,  was a great Music Composer, Singer and Accordionist., Dr. Yesumithran Chellappa is living in USA with his wife and son . Dr. Yesumithran Chellappa is generally called as Dr. Mithran Chellappa .He considers  his Medical Training as a privilege given by God to serve the ailing and sick fellow human-beings. His profile covering the medical and social service rendered by him in Zimbawe, South Africa and USA will  definitely  inspire and galvanise the readers, medical doctors, para medical professionals and fellow human-beings to lend a helping hand to the needy and ailing people and to live a meaningful and hopeful life.

Dr. Yesumithran's Parents and his Birth        : It is always a blessing to have blessed and God fearing parents and Dr. Yesumithran Chellappa, the hero of this Article, is really blessed to have blessed and God fearing parents.from historical Christian families   Some decades ago there lived a famous Medical Doctor in Madurai, Tamil Nadu  by name Dr. Ebenezer Sunderraj Chellappa, M.B.B.S, F.R.C.S[Ed, UK] , and he served as the first Indian Medical  Superintendent of Christian Mission Hospital in Madurai for nearly three decades [ 1938- 1967]. Dr. Ebenezer Sunderaraj Chellappa and his smart wife Mrs. Mercy Sonabi Chellappa. B.A, [the only daughter of Mr. A.J. Shaffter and Mrs Arulammal of , Nagercoil..and Mrs. Mercy Sonabai Chellappa after her marriage ,had the privilege to work as Correspondent of the School for Deaf at Manamadurai] couple gave birth to Dr. Yesumithran Chellappa on 12th April 1944.  It would be useful to remember one fact here that Mr. A.J. Schaffter's brother Mr. J.T. Ambrose married Ms Luisa and Ms Luisa and Ms Arullammal Schaffter were siblings and Mrs Luisa Ambrose was the maternal  grandmother of the world famous Pianist Padma Sri. Handel Manuel.[ Former  Organist and Choirmaster of St Andrew's Kirk, Chennai ]

Dr. Yesumithran Chellappa's Siblings   :  Dr. Ebenezer Sunderraj Chellappa and  Mrs, Mercy Sonabai Chellappa couple gave birth to the following children namely  ;-[1]  Mrs. Dr. Grace Sathiavathy , M.B.B.S, D.G.O, F.R.C.S,[Ed-U.K], [2] Dr. Christanand Arul Bharathi Chellappa, M.B.B.S, F.A.A.P [ A great Music Composer and singer] , [3] Dr. Yesu Mithran Chellappa, M.B.B.S,[ The Hero of this Article], [4] Er. Paul Chitran Chellappa ,and [5] Ms Esther Punithavathy. 

Dr. Yesu Mithran Chellappa's Educational  Track   :  Dr. Yesumithran Chellappa did 1st and 2nd Classes at the St Joseph's Convent, Madurai  and 3rd to 5th class at the St Mary's Boys High School , Madurai . He did his High School education up to S.S.L.C. at the O.C.PM,  High School, Madurai. After having passed his S.S.L.C, Dr. Yesumithran did his P.U.C. at the famous American College , Madurai,.  Then he pursued his B.Sc[ Zoology] at the famous Thiyagarajar College , Madurai and while he was doing his B.Sc final year in 1969 Dr. Yesumithran discontinued his studies and went to Zimbabwe to join with his father Dr. Ebenezer S. Chellappa, F.R.C.S. . In Zimbawe  Dr. Yesumithran  studied Anatomy and Physiology and then he pursued his M.B.B.S. at the famous Kilpauk Government Medical College, Chennai and passed his M.B.B.S. in 1978. . Dr. Yesumithran Chellappa did his House Surgency Training at the Erskine Government Hospital [ Now Rajaji Govt Hospital ], Madurai .

Dr. Yesumithran Chellappa's  Wife and Son        :  Dr. Yesumithran Chellappa  married Ms Dr. Mary Ranjini, M.B.B.S,  daughter of Rev. J. Jacob kumaresan and Mrs. Mary Ponniah,  on 27th December , 1976. .Ms. Mary Ranjini hails from an illustrious Christian family from Tamil Nadu. Dr. Mary Ranjini 's maternal grandfather Dr. Solomon Ponniah worked in the CMC, Vellore as a medical doctor and he was a colleague and close friend of Dr. Ida  Sophia Scudder, the Founder of CMC.  Ms. Mary Ranjini did her M.B.B.S. at the famous Madras Medical College, Chennai . After having worked in some Hospitals in Africa she moved to USA and  worked as a Coordinator at the  Geneva Foundation  from 1st April 2007 to 15th January 2015  and currently works as a Research Associate at Walter Reed National Military Medical Centre, Maryland, U.S, from 25th January 2015 till date. . Dr. Yesumithran Chellappa and Mrs. Dr. Mary Ranjini Chellappa gave birth to a son by name Mr. Emmanuel Chellappa.

Dr. Yesumithran Chellappa's Professional Track   : After having successfully completed his MBBS  Internship , Dr. Yesumithran Chellappa got a job appointment in the Ministry of Health, Govt of Zimbabwe  and so he went to Zimbabwe   and worked in Zimbabwe  as a Medical Doctor for  many years and then in South Africa and finally in USA .In the year 1985 Dr. Yesumithran  was appointed as a Medical officer for Alaska Copper Mine in Zimbabwe, 100 miles from HARARE the capital. On his first day  Dr Yesumithran went into a Mine Village to buy some food for himself .  He saw a native young Zimbawe guy called CHENJEERAI  outside the shop with a padded elbow palm and knees crawling  to move furtherinstantly Dr Mithran's mind was filled with compassion for the pathetic crawling guy and he decided to help him. Within three days Z$ 3000 = was collected as donation from four non Christian Business men to import a Tri Cycle from South Africa for  Chenjeerai . A tricycle was imported and presented to Chenjeerai and Chenjeerai learned to  operate the Tri Cycle quickly and started to move from place to place on his new Tri-Cycle .   Later  Dr. Yesumithran  was appointed as Chief Medical officer for Anglo American Union Carbide and Lonrho Groups of Chrome and Gold Mines at a town called Mutorashanga .In the year 1989 when Dr Mithran was getting ready to move to south Africa in two days for good, the Nurses of his Clinic called Dr. Mithran and told him that a Visitor has landed to say good bye to him . Dr Mithran was excited  beyond words to see Mr. Chenjeerai who with great hardship managed to crawl into  a Bus and travelled 100 miles to see and say goodbye to Dr. Mithran who helped him  some years ago . On seeing Mr Chenjeerai , Dr. Mithran's heart brimmed with spontaneous joy. By his dedicated medical service in Zimbabwe Dr. Yesumithran Chellappa  won the goodwill and appreciation of Mrs. Robert Mugabe the first Lady of Zimbabwe.  Dr. Yesumithran got a job in South Africa and so he moved to Germinston city in  South Africa .Germinston is a beautiful city located in the East Rand region of Gauteng Province of South Africa and East Rand is known as the transport  hub of Johansburg .  Dr. Yesumithran worked as  TB/ HIV/ AIDS  Control Manager in Germinston City [ City of Gold Mines]   In Germinston City Council ,  14 Clinic Waitress were working under Dr. Yesumithran .  TB , HIV, AIDS easily affected the workers who worked in the Copper Mines and Dr. Mithran did sincere medical service to control these dangerous diseases . Apart from medical service Dr. Mithran Chellappa  did valuable and laudable help to the people who sought his help. it is not possible to cover all those chapters in this Article  . Actually Dr. Yesumithran deserves a detailed biography to record all the Good Samaritan activities and humanitarian medical service rendered by him in Zimbabwe and South Africa. . 

 

Conclusion      : After having worked in Zimbabwe and South Africa for many years , Dr. Yesumithran Chellappa wanted to settle in USA like his siblings, and so he moved to USA from South Africa. Dr. Yesumithran  joined the American Red Cross Society and served the people of USA through the Red Cross Society. He loves not only fellow human-beings, but also Plants and Animals  While he was serving as a Medical Doctor in South Africa ,he even got an opportunity to meet the then President of South Africa Mr Nelson Mandala at Soweto town and to have a chat with him about the various medical schemes implemented in South Africa.  Dr. Yesumithran played a vital role in the Campaign against Child Sexual Abuse  in  Zimbabwe and South Africa.  He is a Good Samaritan and he never hesitated to help the helpless people who sought his help. He is very bold also and  .he never hesitated to meet high Govt officials and influential people for the cause of justice and for the sake of voiceless people . He is very simple, unassuming, and he is a practising Christian . He loves his wife Dr. Mary Ranjini Chellappa and his beloved son Emmanuel Chellappa and he is very proud of his famous  brother and great Musician late Dr. Anand Chellappa. He is proud of his paternal and maternal families and their heritage.  It is not possible to accommodate all the real life story of  Dr. Yesumithran Chellappa within the space of this Article and so I will end this Article with the  following sentence , " Dear Dr. Yesumithran Chellappa , we are proud of you and thank God for you, and really you are a Good Samaritan , God bless you and your family "
