Prof. Dr. Jeya Chandra Masilamani,B.E, M.S [U.S], .Ph.D [USA], Retired Professor , Industrial Engineering Department ,Pennsylvania State University ,[ U.S] -- Part A.

Introduction: -  Outstanding and  unassuming Prof. Dr. Jeya Chandra Masilamani , B.E, M.S [.], Ph.D[U.S.A ] is a U.S citizen now,  but he was born  in an illustrious Christian family  in Nagercoil, Kanyakumari District. Tamil Nadu, India,  So the people of  kanyakumari  District and Tamilnadu could be really proud of our Prof. Dr.Jeya Chandra Masillamani . He was a competent , committed and efficacious University Teacher , he served as Professor in the Pennsylvania State University , USA in the Industrial Engineering Department,  for 37 years  with great devotion  and distinction and  he recently retired from  active teaching  service on 30th June 2017.  His inspiring  profile will give great inspiration to the students,teachers  and researchers  throughout the globe ,to achieve greatness in life like him . I had the privilege to meet him in person today , he is unassuming, modest, well informed and very intelligent . Definitely he is an exemplary milestone in the field of education , teaching , research, and industrial engineering .

His Parents  and Birth:   Many decades  ago in Nagercoil in Kanyakumari district there  lived a gentleman by name Mr.P. Masilamani, B.A, L.T with his wife Ms Mary Masilamani and to this couple Dr. M. Jeya Chanra was born in the year 1943 

Dr M. Jeya Chandra's Sibling and families:. Mr. P. Masilamni and his beloved wife Mrs.Mary Masilamani couple was blessed with a smart daughter also by name Mrs. Indra Michael. Ms. Indra's husband Dr. Michael, MBBS,  was serving as Government Medical Doctor in Tamil Nadu in an efficient way till his retirement.  Mrs. Indra Michael and Dr Michael couple is blessed with two smart sons by name, Er. Mahesh Michael ,B.E, and Er. Sugith Michael, B.E[ HCL Chennai ]and one beautiful daughter Ms. Nisha Michael, B.A, M.B.A,.  All of them are married and well settled in life. Er.Mahesh Michael lives with his family in U.S, Er.Sugith Michael lives with his family in Chennai  and Mrs. Nisha Michael  lives with her family in Singapore 

Dr. Jeya Chandran Masilamani and his early education : Dr. Jeya Chandra  Masilamani  was a brilliant student , he did his High School studies[SSLC ], in the Concordia High School , Nagercoil and did his PUC at the famous Scott Christian College , Nagercoil  and did his B.E [ Mechanical Engineering in the famous Thiyagarajar College of Engineering , Madurai.

Former Assistant General Manager of Indian Overseas Bank Mr. S. Bhaskaran, M .Sc [Agri ], M.B.A, J.A.I I.B, [ Ph. D ] -- Part Final

Mr. S. Bhaskaran's wife and Children : Mr. S Bhaskaran married Mrs. P. Susila, B.Sc [Agri ], from Nagercoil.  on 27th October , 1985  . Mrs P. Susila Bhaskaran is  now working as Deputy Director of Agriculture department , Government of Tamilnadu.   Mr. S. Bhaskaran  and his beloved wife P. Susila Bhaskaran couple is blessed with one cute  daughter by name Mrs. Shabana Preethi Vijay , B. Tech  and a smart son by name Mr. B. Pratheep Kumar, M. Sc [Nursing], MBA [Hospital Management],. Ms. Shabana Preethi  married Mr. . Vijay, B.Sc[ Forestry] , I.F.S[ Indian Forest service]. Mr. Vijay IFS  was working as Deputy Conservator of Forests in Kotta, in Rajasthan and he was promoted as Conservator of Forests and he is  now working as a faculty member at the prestigious Central Academy for State Forest Officers .

Mr. S. Baskaran's  colorful banking career : During the later part of 1984 Mr S. Bhaskaran joined Syndicate Bank, Taliparamba , Kerala State, as Rural Development Officer . In 1985 he joined Indian Overseas Bank , Trichy as Agri Manager. Afterwards there was no turning back, he became one of the very popular  and efficacious Bank Officers in IOB,  and as a result he was appointed as Lead District Manager on 1997, and he served  as a productive and innovative  Lead District Manager till 2002 .He was privileged to serve as Lead  District Manager [KK Dist ]   for two terms

Awards won by Mr. Bhaskar ;  He was a recipient  of National Award for Implementation of Government  Programme especially, THADCO Scheme and  he also received the Best Performance Award  while he was serving as Chief Manager  at Saidapet IOB Branch continually for three years[ 2011- 2014 ].

Some special high lights about him : Mr. S. Bhaskaran has worked as Guest Lecturer to teach Financial Management  at the NI Engineering University, Kumarapuram, KK Dist for about three years. While he was efficaciously serving as  Lead District Manager he had the privilege to attend many state level and national level conferences at Delhi, Lucknow, Gujarat and so on.  Because of his natural thirst for knowledge  Mr S. Bhaskaran  has completed his PhD research course at NI Engineering University and  at present  he working for the final submission of his  Ph. D dissertation 

He was promoted as AGM :  While Mr Bhaskaran was working  as Chief Manager at Saidapet IOB branch, he was promoted and he joined as Assistant General Manager in the Regional Office, Coimbatore in 2015. In 2016 he was posted as Head of Inspectorate in Trivandrum and he retired from IOB Banking service on 31st March, 2017. 

Conclusion : Mr. S. Bhaskaran is intellectually and physically an attractive personality. His thirst for knowledge  and and his drive for advancement in life through higher education are  the hall makrk qualities of his inner personality.   After retirement he  resides in his beautiful house at Nagercoil  and leads a pleasant and peaceful life with his family .As a  former  PG student of agriculture , he loves agriculture and gardening so much and so  he regularly visits his spacious garden and spend his time in the garden with the tress and plants.  His life is definitely an example and inspiration to many  to come up in life . Definitely he has achieved greatness in his life .

Former Assistant General Manager of Indian Overseas Bank Mr. S. Bhaskaran, M. Sc [ Agri], M.B.A, J.A.I.I.B, [ Ph.D ] --- Part A.

Introduction :    Recently retired Assistant General Manager of Indian Overseas Bank Mr. S.  Bhaskaran, M.Sc[Agri] M.B.A, J.A.I.I.B , is one of the colorful and remarkable  sons of Kanyakumari District.  He is really a man of letters  His  relentless search and thirst for knowledge had made him a distinctive personality among bank employees. It is pertinent  to mention here that  purely for the sake of knowledge even during his advanced stage of life he registered himself as a Ph.D research student  in the prestigious  N.I Engineering University, Kanyakumari District, and  had completed his Ph.D course  and is working for the  final submission of his  Ph.D dissertation . His enviable accomplishment  in the field of banking , education, administration , teaching , planning, social service,etc, have made him  a noteworthy  milestone in the social, banking and educational history of Kanyakumari District and Tamil Nadu.

His Birth and Parents:   Mr. S. Bhaskaran was born on 28th March, 1957 to his beloved parents Mr. S. Swamy and Mrs, N, Pooranam Swamy  at Nagercoil , in an  intelligent family. and  it will be useful here to mention that  Mr.S. Bhaskaran's father Mr. S. Swamy  was a first cousin of  US educated Mr . Shanmugavel ,a  former Chief Labor Commissioner of  the then undivided Madras Presidency 

Mr. S. Bhaskaran's  Siblings and their families  :  Mr. S. Bhaskaran's beloved parents were blessed with two smart sons and one lovely daughter namely :[1] Mr..S. Velappan, B.A,[2] Mrs. Saraswathy and [3] Mr S. Bhaskaran . Mr S. Velappan, B.A, retired as an Assistant Director of Hand-looms and Mr Velappan is blessed with two smart sons  and both of his sons are engineers . Mrs Saraswathy is  living in Chennai with her family as a  successful Home Maker 

Mr. S . Bhaskaran's education : Mr Bhaskaran  was a studious and smart student from the very beginning of his Primary School days. He did his High School education at the Government High School, Edalakudy, Nagercoil  and did his PUC at the famous S.T. Hindu College, Nagercoil  and passed  PUC with flying colors . After his PUC he joined the famous Agricultural University, Madurai   in 1975 for his B.Sc [Agri ] and passed his B.Sc {Agri ] in 1971.  He joined.in the same Agricultural University Madurai in 1982 for his M. Sc {Agri] and successfully completed his M.Sc[Agri ] in 1984.

He worked a Lecturer :After having  passed his M.Sc[Agri ] with colors, Mr. S. Bhaskaran  joined as  a Lecturer at the  famous Agricultural University Madurai in 1984 and continued  to work as a Lecturer only for six months.

Former Associate Professor of English, Karunya University, Coimbatore,. Dr. Pauline Das, M.A., M.Phil. Ph.D [ 1960--2016 ].

Introduction :   Late Prof.Dr. Pauline Das of karunya University, Coimbatore was one of the efficient University English Teachers of India; and she enjoyed the spontaneous  love and respect of her students  and colleagues till her death  She was an inspiring personality , she was a good teacher , voracious reader, fluent  speaker and writer ;   she was beautiful, honest and a good  human-being. Definitely in her death, Indian Universities and student community had lost a very efficacious and devoted English teacher.  Definitely her achievements and way of life would be an inspiring example for many to follow

Dr. Pauline Das’ birth and Parents ; Prof Dr Puline Das was a native of Nagercoil and she was born on 9^th September 1960 as the youngest  daughter to Military Engineer  late Major. C. M.Das and Mrs Mariamma Das.

Her Siblings: Her beloved parents  Maj. CM Das and Mrs.K.P Mariamma Das  were blessed with four children namely :[1] Dr. M.S.P. Sampath, M.B.B.S, [2] Ms Merlin Lazarus, [3] Er. Mr. Irwin Jeya Suriya , B.E, and [4] late Prof. Dr. Pauline Das .

Education of Dr Pauline Das:   Dr Pauline Das  did her School studies  at the famous St Joseph’s Convent  Nagercoil and did her B.Sc and MA[English ] in Scott Christian College , Nagercoil  . She was a brilliant student and was well liked by her Professors and lecturers and fellow students ,in Scott Christian College.  She was a brilliant student , after her M.A in English,[College topper ] she successfully passed her M.Phil [ University topper], Madurai Kamaraj University  and Ph.D , Bharathidasan University .

Her married Life: Ms. Pauline Das married Mr Mohan, M.B.A, from Coimbatore and Ms.Pauline and Mr.Mohan couple was blessed with a beautiful and brilliant daughter by name Preetika. Paulin’s  only daughter Preetika Mohan, B.Com, MBA [ITM-IFM ] is working as a Credit Analyst in a famous Multinational Financial Institution.

Dr. Pauline’s Teaching Career : Dr. Pauline Das was one of the outstanding Alumni of Scott Christian College Nagercoil and was an active member of the Alumni Association of Scott Christian College, Coimbatore Chapter till her death in February 2016. She had been working as an Associate Professor of English at Karunya University, Coimbatore from June 2007 till her sad and untimely demise in February 2016. She taught  American Literature , Black Studies, British Literature ,  Common Wealth Literature, Australian Literature , Criticism  and English for Media . She had 25 years of experience in teaching English Language and literature. Before joining the English Department, in  Karunya University, Coimbatore, she had the privilege to work as English Lecturer in many important Colleges in Tamil Nadu.  Professor Dr. Pauline Das was serving as a Member in the English Department Research Advisory Committee, Karunya University.  She had successfully guided 2 Scholars [ Indian writing in English ] for M.Phil degrees  and 3 Scholars for Ph.D in Canadian Literature.  She was an active member in the Indian Association for Canadian studies [ IACS ] and she had  presented and read  some thought provoking Papers in the Seminars and Conferences conducted by IACS, for example in the IACS conference conducted in 2011 , Dr Pauline Das read a Paper on Women’s Empowerment in India and Canada and compared Margaret Atwood’s Edible Women with that of Laxmi  Kannan’s Tamil Novel “Going Home” . She was a good researcher and writer  also and some of her research Articles had been published in the famous international English Research Journls like The Criterion, Languages in India , etc,.

Conclusion; Dr. Pauline Das was really a colorful personality, she was a talented musician and underwent  regular Piano studies  while she was a student at St Joseph's Covent, Nagercoil   and successfully completed her Piano course studies to the level of fifth or sixth grade  She had served as  Rotaract Club President  in an enviable manner during her college days. She was very kind towards poor students and she had supported 9 poor students for their collegiate education and also she had been  financially supporting  many independent Churches in line with the teachings of Christ   Before her untimely death. Dr. Pauline fought with her sickness with great tenacity and hope, however  as we know life is not in human hands she died in February 2016 in Coimbatore. Her funeral was well attended by the students, staff of karunya University, relatives, friends and church members. Her funeral service was conducted by the then Bishop of Tamil Evangelical Lutheran Church, Coimbatore and her body had been interred in the TELC main Church cemetery. in Coimbatore. Yes in her death the Karunya University had lost an efficient and devoted  teaching staff and students had lost an efficacious and amiable Teacher and the  family and  Kanyakumari District and country had lost a valuable and loving soul.

Introduction: The first Chief Architect  and Town planner to the Government of Kerala Shri. J.C. Alexander was an iconic Architect, Professor of Architecture  and designer of great caliber and  tall order He was definitely a milestone in the field  of modern Architecture and  town planning  in India . He was dead and gone but he  will be remembered for the  contributions  he  had made for the cause of Architecture .To his credit he had  designed  and built  many landmark buildings  in  and around  Trivandrum and also in some other places..Among the many monumental architectural buildings designed by Shri.J C Alexander,  the Gandhi Memorial Building at Kanyakumari  is  one of them

J.C Alexander and  his Parents :  Shri. J.C Alexander was born to Mr J.M Joseph and Mrs. Lily Joseph at Nagercoil . J.C Alexander's father Mr. J.M. Joseph, B.A, L.T, M.L.A [ Nominated ] was  a  famous Head Master of the famous Scott Christian High School , Nagercoil,  and he served as Head Master with distinction for a number of years  . And his  mother Mrs Lily Joseph belonged to one of the illustrious christian families in Kanyakumari District and Tamil Nadu. and she was the fifth child of Mr. Moses Devadason [ Inchikandakku ] of Nagercoil . And it is pertinent here to remember the historical fact  that Moses Devadason was a friend  and confidant of Bishop Robert Caldwell and Moses Devadason served as a  Supervisor and Conductor of Robert Caldwells' Woodland Estate [ 275 acres ] in Asambu Hills,  in Kanyakuamari District  with great integrity.. Bishop Robert Caldwell sold his Woodland Estate to his Estate conductor  and friend Mr Moses Devadason at a low price in recognition of  Mr.Moses Devadason's hard work and honesty. 

J.C. Alexander's Siblings :  Shri J.C Alexander's Parents Mr.J.M Joseph and Mrs  Lily Joseph couple was blessed with the following children : [1] Mr. J.Prince, [2] Mr. J.C. Alexander [3]Mr. J.R. Kenneth, [4]Ms. Sarojini Mathews ,[5] Ms.Leela Daniel, [6] Ms. Lalitha ,[7]Ms Suseela Paul Vedam ,   [8] .Mr..J.C Prasad . All of Mr J.C Alexander's siblings had a well settled in life  and  to cite one or two example  I would say his elder brother Mr.J. Prince  worked in the prestigious Reserve Bank of India , however he died at the early age of 50..  Mr.J.C Alexander's  sister Ms Sarojini was married to Mr George Mathew. and  Mr George Mathews worked in the famous Voorhees High School Vellore and retired as its Head-Master

J.C . Alexander' wife and married life : Mr. J.C Alexander married his maternal uncle Mr Charles Dawson's daughter Ms Queenie .  Ms Queenie Alexander was a product of Sarah Tucker College , Palayam Cottah .. Ms Queenie Alexander's mother  Ms  Leelamal was a first cousin of the world famous Christian Theologian and Writer  Dr, Paul Devanandan ,  Mr. J.C Alexander and his beloved and beautiful wife Ms.Queenie Alexander were leading a happy and beautiful life but unfortunately death  did not allow Ms Queenie  to enjoy the conjugal happiness and bliss with her loving husband ; even before completing one year in her married life, death snatched away Ms. Queenie Alexander from her beloved husband Shri J.C Alexander . The demise of his beloved and beautiful wife affected  Mr.J.C Alexander deeply beyond all  available words.

Mr Stephen Babu and Mrs Anugraha Devnath Stephen Babu Couple is blessed with a cute daughter by name Andrea Stephen and a smart son by name  Andrew Stephen .Now Anugraha Devanth Stephen is living in USA. with her husband and their loving children  .{2] Mrs Archana Devnath   like her sister after having done her  high School and Higher Secondary School Education at the famous C.S.I Higher Secondary Matriculation School, Nagercoil, she  did her B.E at the famous Panimalar Institute of Technology , Chennai . She was an Achiever in education, Archana Devnath stood first in her  class and bagged prize money of Rs.10,000= twice from the College Administration . Recently she has married Mr Suthan Philips , B.Tech, [M.E }and Suthan Philips is   working with Amazon as Cloud Engineer in U.S.A and Mrs Archana Devnath Suthan Philips has recently joinedher  beloved husband  who is working now  in USA .

Mr. Denath Ponniah in I.O.B :  Since Mr Devnath Ponniah  joined as a Probationary Officer in I.O.B in 1981, for the last nearly 36 years he has been  efficaciously working in the I.O.B. . And during this long period he has decorated many  Posts and  discharged official  responsibilities  with high dignity  in an enviable manner. .  From the very beginning he was very active and  proved his efficiency in his official work and while  Mr. Devnath Ponniah  was working at IOB Eraniel Branch , in Kanyakumari District, as Branch Manager,  he  was appreciated  with an Award by then District Collector Mrs Jothi Nirmala, IAS, for opening maximum number of Self Help Groups [SHGs] in Kanyakuami District.  In 2013 he was promoted as Senior Manager and was transferred  to Calcutta and accordingly  he worked as Senior Manager in I.O.B ,Calcutta during 2011- 2013.  . In 2013 he was transferred to Kanyakumari District to assume charge as Lead District Manager, at Nagercoil , Kanyakumari district   As Lead District Manager he functioned in a very efficient and effective  manner and won the love and respect of the District Administration  and the Public.

Mr Devnath Ponniah was Promoted as Assistant General Manager [ AGM ] in 2014 : In 2014 Mr Devnath Ponnaih was promoted as Assistant General Manager and posted at the I.O.B Guindy branch, in Chennai. He worked at the Guindy IOB branch as AGM in charge of  Small, Marginal Entrepreneurs Advance [ SME -Credit ] Section nearly for two years. In 2016 he was transferred to the IOB Nehru Park Branch, Chennai and  currently at this IOB Branch  he has been working  as AGM in a very efficacious manner . He is to be  retired from  IOB  banking service  during  May 2017.

Conclusion : Mr. Devnath Ponniah is a colorful personality . His  curled mustache  adds additional attraction to his  physical look , and his generous and kind mental out look  makes him, as a dear and respected person to everyone around  him and  known him and known to him . When ever he is filled with some worries he  takes his Guitar or Key Board and plays some favorite songs and forgets his melancholy. When he is in creative mood he takes his pencil and paper draws some beautiful sketches . He loves books and camera  and his grand-children very much . I can say in all fronts he has so far succeeded  by the grace of God . Definitely Mr Devnath Ponniah is colorful multifaceted personality.

Introduction :  Mr Devnath Ponniah is  a colorful multi-faceted personality. Almighty God has blessed him with  many talents and creative gifts  ; he is a great  Photographer, a versatile Artist,  good  Key Board Player, eloquent Speaker ,  shrewd Negotiator,  able Administrator, accomplished   Banker  and so on. A perusal of his life trajectory will easily and conspicuously confirm that he is a hard worker and a very intelligent person and he has become an Assistant  General Manger of IOB [ Indian Overseas Bank ,] by his relentless hard work and competence. His profile will definitely  give  inspiration  and hope to the younger generations to reach great heights  in life  through tireless and relentless hard work .Some are born great and some achieve greatness and Mr. Devnath Ponniah  belongs to the second category. and by virtue of his many fold accomplishments he has become a milestone  in the  social , cultural and banking history of Kanyakumari District and Tamil Nadu.

Devnath's Education :  Young  smart Devnath Ponnaih did his  Primary School education at the  Lutheran Primary School Vadasery and  Gothai Gramam Government Primary School. Mr. Devnath  Ponnaih did his High School at the famous S.M.R.V School at Vadesery, Nagercoil. Then he joined for his P.U.C at the famous S.T. Hindu College Nagercoil  and in the same college he did his B.Sc[ [Zoology --1977 ]

Young Devnath  Ponniah won many  prestigious competitions at the University level : Devanath Ponniah is a great  creative person.  From childhood he showed great promise in Pencil Drawing and during his college days he won  the First Prize in Pencil Drawing at the Inter Collegiate Competition ofthe Maduarai Kamaraj University and also  he won  Second prize in Photography Competition and received the Prize  Medals  in 1977 from the then Vice Chancellor of M.K University Dr. V.C Kulandaisamy . In the same year in the Inter-Collegiate Photography Competition conducted at the  Tanil nadu State level he won 2 medals out of the total  8 medals 

Mr. Devnath Ponniah, B.Sc, joined as a Clerk in State Bank of India;   After having passed his B.Sc Mr Devnath Ponniah passed his clerical Examination  conducted by the SBI and joined in S.B.I as a Clerk in 1980 at the Kuzhithurai SBI branch,  Kanyakuamri Distirct. and he worked in the same branch nearly for one year in the same cadre.  

Mr. Devnaath Ponniah  was selected as a Probationary Officer in IOB :  His natural fire and urge for advancement and achievement propelled Mr. Devnath Ponniah  to aspire for greater places in  life  and so our Dynamic Devanath Ponniah sat for his probationary Officer Examination  conducted by the IOB and cleared the examination with ease and joined as a Probationary Officer  in I.O.B in 1981.. Since the then there was no turning back.
