A Former Senior Scientist of Zoological Survey of India and Joint Director , Ministry of Environment and Forest [ South Zone], Dr. M. Mary Bai , M.Sc, Ph.D,.--Part Final.

Dr.M. Mary Bai, M.Sc, Ph.D,  Joined Marine Biological Regional Centre , Chennai as  a Scientist:  Dr. M. Mary Bai was selected by the competent authority to work as a Scientist at the famous Marine Biological Regional Center , Chennai   and  she accordingly with great enthusiasm and vision joined the Marine Biological Regional Center of the Zoological Survey of India  in Chennai in 1974. Since then there was no turning back she committed her full intellectual resources, energy and intelligence for the cause of Research in Zoological .Survey of .India..

Dr. Mary Bai's Research Study on Echnoderms and Marine Pollution : Along the East coast of India , from Chennai to Kanyakumari and also in Andaman islandss   Dr. Mary Bai did extensive and intensive survey in connection with her  Research-study of the Enchnoderms. She also had  the privilege to do  a prestigious  and much needed Project funded by  the Department of Science and technology, Government of India [DST ] on ," Marine Pollution along Madras Coast" .

Dr M Mary Bai  was transferred   to Southern Regional Office of Z.S.I in Chennai :  Dr. Mary Bai on transfer, joined the Southern Regional office of the Zoological Survey of India  in Chennai and pursued   her Research on Bionomics and her wonderful and highly useful research findings had been  published in the research  Journals of Zoological Survey of India  and also in many  reputed Research Journals .  One of her  most important research Articles was, A Monograph of Holothuria Scabra Jager.  Dr Mary Bai was a great  born Researcher she did a significant  useful  Research Project on the Pollution of aspect of Cooum River in Chennai . She read the Research findings of the Project on the Pollution aspect of Cooum river , in a Symposium conducted by the Department of Zoology, Bangalore University.

Dr. M. Mary Bai served as Joint Director in the Ministry of Environment and Forest, South Zone:- On deputation Dr. Mary Bai joined the Ministry of Environment and Forest , South Zone as  Joint Director in 1999.  She played  a leading role and part in many of the Environmental Projects of Petroleum  Industries and Electricity Departments of  Goa and Kerala States.

Dr. M.Mary Bai superannuated from her  Government Service :- After having served the Zoological Survey of India and Ministry of Environment and Forest  for nearly twenty nine  years Dr. M. Mary Bai superannuated from her active service in the  Government of India, on 30th November , 2003. 

Dr. M. Mary Bai Died in 2013 :-  On account of her hard and restless work and age factor her health started to deteriorate suddenly and Dr.M. Mary Bai died on 27th March, 2013. She is survived by her Husband Dr. Krihnan and son Dr. Rajendran and family . Her mortal remains had been buried at her native village Manchana Vilai , near Eraniel Town, kanyakuamri district  by the side of her  beloved parents' graves in their family coconut garden adjoining their family house .  Dr. M.Mary Bai was beautiful, intelligent , humane , impartial , fearless and God fearing and was a Champion of Social Justice She was liked and respected by her colleagues, friends , family members and public .Some are born great and some achieve greatness. Dr. M. Mary Bai belonged to the second category.  Dr.M .Mary Bai  by  her colorful life, remarkable scientific accomplishments and service  had found a laudable and lasting place  in the social and scientific history of Kanaykumari District and India.

A Former Senior Scientist of Zoological Survey of India and Joint Director , Ministry of Environment and Forest, South Zone Dr .M. Mary Bai , M.Sc, Ph. D,.-- Part B

Dr. M .Mary Bai's Educational  qualifications :- Dr. M. Mary Bai was a brilliant student since her first Standard   Dr. Mary Bai did her High School education at the famous OCPM High School in Madurai.. She did her P.U.C in the famous Scott Christian College Nagercoil  and passed her P.U.C examination with flying colors. Then Mary Bai  continued her B.Sc [Zoology] in the same Scott Christian College Nagercoil and passed her B.Sc Final Examination with distinction and easily got admission for her prestigious M.Sc at the Scott Christian College Nagercoil  and she passed her M.Sc[Zoology ]  with high distinction .Then she purused her PhD research study at the prestigious Madurai Kamaraj University[1969-1971 under the guidance of Prof. Dr. S. Krishnaswamy on the Regeneration on the HOLOTHURIANS ,"HOLOTHURIA SEABRA " using histological and radioactive tracer techniques and obtained her prestigious Ph.D Degree  in 1971  .

Dr. M. Mary Bai  Worked as a College Lecturer :-Immediately after meritoriously completing  her Ph.D, she  was offered a  Lecturer Post at the famous Sri Avinashilingam Home Science College , Coimbatore in the Zoology Department and so she instantly joined  the College as a Zoology Lecturer  in 1971 and worked as a Lecturer in the Zoology Department of the  Sri Avinashilingam Home Science College Coimbatore for almost four  years  from 1971 to 1974, in an enviable manner 


Dr. M Mary Bai married Dr Krishnan  :  Dr. M. Mary  Bai married Dr. Krishnan and her marriage was a revolutionary marriage in those days , because it was not only an  inter-caste  marriage but also it was an inter religious marriage .But their marriage was not simply a marriage of emotions and physical attractions but it was a marriage of two romantic, intellectual   and loving minds. Of course  on account this marriage , both of them met some initial protest and opposition from  both side parents but specially from her husband's family as they were orthodox Brahmins. But Mrs Dr, M. Mary Bai and Dr Krishnan Coupl'e conjugal life travel  had stood the test of time . Dr Krishnan is also a great scholar and great human being and also worked as aProfessor in  a reputed college in Coimbatore

Mrs.Dr. M. Mary Bai and Dr. Krishnan couple's Son Dr. Rajendran , B.D.S, M.D.S:_ Mrs. Dr. Mary Bai and Dr krishnan couple was blessed with a smart son by name Rajendnran . Rajeandran after his B.D.S , went to Russia to do his M.D.S and he successfully passed his M.D.S examination and returned to India with a successful smile. .. Dr. K Rajeandran M.D.S has married Ms.Lynda Joyce, M.Sc, B.Ed,  from Coimbatore.

A Former Senior Scientist of Zoological Survey of India and Joint Director , Ministry of Environment and Forest, Govt of India Dr. M. Mary Bai , M.Sc, Ph.D,.-- Part A

Introduction : Scientist Dr. M. Mary Bai, M.Sc, Ph.D of Kanyakuamari District was really an outstanding  intellectual daughter and milestone of Kanykumari  District and Tamil Nadu  and she was one of the pioneer women  Biological Scientists in India and she was the  first  Women Scientist to join in the Marine Biological Regional Centre of  Government of India,  in Chennai.  Her natural wisdom and  relentless will to come up in life  and natural  aptitude and attitude for Research, carried her to greater heights  in her professional career  as a Joint Director in the Ministry of Environment and Forest, Government of India,  South Zone,  , from a humble family back ground .. Her enviable concise profile will enthuse the young people and students specially  hailing from rural back ground  with new enthusiasm, inspiration  and confidence to reach new heights in their respective careers .

Dr. M. Mary's Native  Village  And Parents :   A beautiful  thar  road connects Eraniel  town and Thakkalai town in Kanyakuamri District  and it is interesting to learn  that both Eraniel and Thakkalai were the Capitals of old  Venad  and Travancore states. at some periods of time  . And this road that connects the historical Eraniel with the famous Thakkalai is flanked by ponds , coconut trees and paddy fields. and on the eastern side of this road, at about two kilometers from Eraniel there lies a beautiful village called Manchana Vilai surrounded by verdant coconut trees   at a distance of about a  furlong . from the road. In this beautiful  village there lived a God fearing man and his name was Mr. Mark and his wife's name was Mrs. V. Chellam Mark . This lovely couple  as S.A.  Christian ministers were sent by the concerned authorities to do Christian missionary work  in a village called  M. Puthupatti , near Viruthunagar town.. While Mr  Mark and his wife Mrs. Chellam Mark had been doing  Christian missionary work  in   M. Puthupatti village, a beautiful female child was born to this lovely couple on  26th November 1943,  and   Mr Mark and his wife,  christened their new born  cute girl baby  with a beautiful name  Mary Bai .  . This Mark couple had passed away from this world. and their mortal remains had been buried  near their house at Manchana Vilai village.

Dr.M.Mary Bai's Siblings : Mr Mark and his beloved wife Mrs Chellam Mark couple was blessed with  three  smart sons and one beautiful and intelligent daughter namely :-[1]  Mr. M. Mahersalalusbash, [son] [2] Ms. M Mary Bai, [ daughter ],[3] Major  .M. John Rose, [ son]  , and [4] Mr. M. Gotton Isaac [son]. .

A Pioneer Liver Transplant Surgeon and Associate Director [H.R.D] of Christian Medical College and Hospital Vellore, Prof. Dr. SR. Banerjee Jesudason, M.S, FRCS[Eng], FRCS[ Edin], FACS .. Part C

Dr. S.R. Banerjee Jesudason's Enviable Medical Degrees from U.K and U.S.A : :Dr. S.R. Banerjee Jesudason is a brilliant Medical Doctor ,  efficacious Surgeon and Scholar and he had  bagged many illustrious Medical degrees and letters   from U.K and USA.  He proudly qualified for his F.A.C.S degree from American College of Surgeons in October 1995. He passed his fellowship examination  of Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2002 and got his prestigious  F.R.C.S degree  and he also passed his Fellowship examination of Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh  and bagged his famous F.R.C.S [Edn ] degree in 2003 and  thus added many colorful   educational feathers to his medical knowledge cap.

Dr. S.R. Banerjee Jesudason and His Rich Teaching Career in C.M.C , Vellore:
Dr. S.R.Banerjee Jesudason had a rich and remarkable teaching experience in  C.M.C Vellore in various levels and grades. He started his teaching career as a Clinical Tutor in Surgery at Christian Medical College in 1976 and was working in the same category from  1st November 1976 to 15th march 1977   He served in C.M.C, Vellore  as Lecturer in Surgery from 2nd May  1979 to 1st May 1983. and  on promotion  he served as Reader in Surgery from 2nd May 1983 to 1st May 1986. Dr Banerjee Jesudason continued his teaching career  at the  Christian Medical College Vellore   and he was promoted to work as Associate Professor of Surgery  and he efficiently   served  as an Associate Professor of Surgery from 2nd May 1986 to 1 st may 1988. His outstanding teaching capacity  was aptly recognized and he was promoted as the Professor of Surgery and he served  at the C.M.C , Vellore  as Professor  of Surgery from 2nd May 1988 to 18th June 2005  in a colorful  style with great distinction.

Dr Banerjee Jesudason  had served as Examiner for Medical Examinations in many Universities.: Dr Banerjee Jesudason had the privilege to work as Examiner of Medical Examinations in many  famous South Indian Universities.  He had served as Examiner  of M.B.B.S  examination  of  Bangalore University.  He had served as Examiner of M.B.B.S and M.S Medical Degree Examinations conducted by the University of Madras. He also had the honor of serving as Examiner  of  M.S Degree examination of University of Mysore. Dr. Banerjee Jesudason had the privilege  to serve as Examiner of M.B.B.S and M.S Medical Degree Examinations of the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University.. He also had the honor of serving as Examiner of the prestigious M.Ch [ Neurosurgery ] examinations conducted by the National Institute of Mental Health and Neorosciences [NIMHANS], Bangalore. 

 Dr. S.R Banerjee Jesudason and his Administrative experience in CMC & Hospital , Vellore : He was not only a great Medical Professor, Surgeon but also he was an able administrator .He served as Deputy Medical Superintendent of Christian Medical College and Hospital , Vellore in an enviable manner from April 1989 to June 1993. Dr .S.R. Banerjee served as H.O.D of Department General Surgery at CMC, Vellore  from November 1996 to April 2001. He had the honor of serving as H.O.D of General Surgery Unit 11 from Oct 1988 to August 2003 in a remarkable way. Dr S.R Banerjee  Jesudason had the privilege to serve as Head of Division  of Surgery of Digestive System in C.M.C ,Vellore from September 2003 to June 2005 in an outstanding manner

A Pioneer Liver Transplant Surgeon and a former Commonwealth Medical Fellow Dr.S.R. Banerjee Jesudason, M.S, F.R.C S [Eng],F.R.C.S [Ed], F.A.C.S and his son and H.O.D of General Surgery , at C.M.C, Vellore Prof . Dr. Mark Ranjan Jesudason, M.B.B.S, M.S, D.N.B, F.R.C.S [Ed ]. Part C

Dr. S.R Banerjee Jesudason, M.B.B.S, M.S,  served as a Commonwealth Medical fellow : While Dr. S.R Banerjee Jesudason was serving as a devoted  and efficacious Surgeon  at the C.M.C, Vellore , he got an enviable privilege  and opportunity to serve as a Commonwealth medical Fellow in U.K., from the 3rd October 1984 to 2nd October 1985  at the famous St. Marks Hospital for the Diseases of Rectum and Colon , London, for 12 months in a distinctive  manner with great dedication and distinction. Dr S.R Banearjee Jesudason had the privilege to work as Commonwealth Medical Fellow at the Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery at the reputed Hammersmith Hospital in London for 6 months . While he was seerving as Commonwealth Medical fellow in UK, He was highly appreciated for his medical and surgical skills and he also gained great medical experience and expertise .

Dr. S.R Banearjee Jesudason Served as a Visiting Professor in U.K, Denmark and USA:  Dr. S.R. Banerjee Jesudason got the rare privilege to work at reputed Medical Institutions in  U.K, Denmark and U.S.A.. Dr. Banerjee Jesudason  served as Visiting professor at the famous Kings College London in U.K from 20th June 1994 to 31st August 1994.. He also had the privilege to serve as a Visiting Professor at the famous Aarhus University Hospital , Aarhus  in Denmark from 2nd September 1994 to 20th September 1994. Dr. SR Banerjee also had the enviable privilege to serve as a Visiting Professor at the  internationally reputed University of Colorado Health Sciences Center's Transplant Surgery  Division , from 29th June 1998  to 2nd July 1998 with fabulous  distinction

Dr. S.R. . Banerjee  Jesudason  and Mrs Mary V. Banerjee  Jesudason couple's beloved and remarkable son  Dr. Mark Ranjan Jesudason M.S , F.R.C.S {Ed] is  serving as  Professor of Surgery and Head of the Department of  General Surgery  Unit 2  and Colorectal Surgery at C.M.C, Vellore in an enviable manner. Dr. Mark Ranjan Jesudason  has attained  Special Expertise in  Laparoscopic Colerectal  Surgery .



Dr. Mark Ranjan Jesudason and his wife and son : Dr Mark Ranjan  Jesudasondid marry Dr. Bernice M.B.B.S, D.A, M.D, at Vellore  in January 2001 .  Mrs.Dr. Bernice  Mark Ranjan Jesudason is  working as a Consultant Anaesthesiologist at CMC Vellore .  Dr Bernice Mark Jesudason is  also working  as an Assistant  Professor  at the Department of Anaesthesia at Christain Medical College , Vellore .  Dr. Mark Ranjan Jesudason and his beautiful  and talented wife Dr. Bernice Mark Jesudason couple is blessed with an intelligent son by name Jonathan

A Pioneer Liver Transplant Surgeon in India Dr. S.R. Banerjee Jesudason, M.B.B.S, M.S, F.R.C.S[Ed ], F.R.C.S {Eng], F.A.C.S and His Wife and Former Vice PrIncipal of CMC,Mrs.Dr. Mary Vijaya M.B.B.S, M.D,F.A.M.S. Part B..

Dr. S.R .Banerjee Jesudason's  envious educational track  in India  : Dr.  S.R. Banerjee  Jesudason is having  an outstanding educational  record..  He was a very brilliant  and devoted student and since childhood he continued his education with the core aim of becoming a Medical Doctor. He did his High School Studies at the famous Concordia High School, Ambur where his parents were working as Teachers . After having passed his S.S.L.C with very high marks he did his P.U.C in the famous Madras Christian College [June1961 to April 1962 ]  and passed his PUC with high distinction  He applied for M.B.B.S at the Christian Medical College, Vellore and   he was selected for his M.B.B.S course by the C.M.C Medical Selection Board.  He did his M.B.B.S in the C.M.C, Vellore,  during the period from June 1963 to Sept 1969. and passed his M.B.B.S, with flying colors.  He did his Pre -Registration Resident Internship at the C.M.C, Vellore [from  20th Oct 1969 to 19th Oct 1970.] and  then did his Senior House Surgeon at the famous C.S.I Hospital , Bangalore [1st Nov 1970 to 21st Jan 1973]. Then he started his Professional career  in the Bethesda Hospital at Ambur as a Medical officer and worked  in Bethesda Hospital from 1st November 1971 to 21st January 1973. Afterwards  Dr. S.R. Baneerjee Jesudason  joined C.M.C, Vellore hospital and  worked as Post Graduate Registrar in General Surgery, Clinical Tutor in Surgery etc Dr. S.R. Banerjee Jesudason's natural thirst and drive for more knowledge propelled him to continue his Higher Studies and accordingly he did his M.S in the famous CMC, Vellore and successfully passed his M.S Examination [ April 1978.].

Dr. S.R Banerjee Jesudason married Ms. Dr. Mary Vijaya , M.B.B.S, D.C.P, M.D, F.A.M.S : Bible says that it is not  good that the man should  be alone and  and accordingly God gave  Ms. Dr. Mary Vijaya   as  Life Partner  to Dr. S.R.Banerjee Jesudason . Mrs Dr. Mary V. Banerjee Jesudason as a qualified Medical Doctor and devoted life partner with modest qualities   played a very significant role and inspired and encouraged  her beloved husband Dr.S.R. Banerjee Jesudason to shine in his professional, family and social life.  Mrs. Dr. Mary Vijaya hails from one of the illustrious Christian families in South India.  Mrs Dr Mary Vijaya Jesudason  served as Professor of Microbiology at C.M.C, Vellore and also as Head of the Department [HOD} of the Microbiology Department,  at the Christian Medical College, Vellore, Amala Institute of Medical Sciences Thirussur and Pnndichery Institute of Medical  Sciences Pondichery . At present Mrs. Dr. Mary Vijaya Jesudason  is working as Consultant for Laboratory Medicines and Emeritus Scientist at Sri Narayani Hospital and Research Centre , Vellore . Currently Mrs Dr. Mary Vijaya Jesudason is serving as the Secretary-Convener of the Laboratory Training Committee of the Christian Medical Association  Of India [CMAI ]. Mrs. Dr. Mary V Jesudason is a  reputed  Medical Researcher and her   contributions in the field of Microbiology Research  are well recognized both in India and abroad 

Mrs. Dr. Mary Vijaya  Jesudason  had the privilege to decorate some high profile administrative Posts in C.M.C, Vellore. She decorated the Post of Vice Principal of C.M.C, Vellore with great distinction  and she proved herself as an  able Administrator by serving as Deputy Medical Superintendent and Associate Director of C.M.C, Vellore  [Adminstration and Finance].

A Pioneer Liver Transplant Surgeon in India and Rtd H.O.D of General Surgery at C M C, Vellore Dr. S.R. Banerjee Jesudason, MBBS, MS, FRCS [Eng], FRCS [Ed], - Part A.,

Introduction :  A  Pioneer Liver Transplant Operation  was successfully done in  the Christian Medical College , Vellore in 1999 by a Medical Team headed by Dr, S.R. Banerjee Jesudason M.B.B.S, M.S, F.R.C.S [Eng], F.R.CS,[Ed], F.A.C.S,. On account of this pioneer successful  Orthotopic Liver Transplantation, Dr. S.R.Banerjee Jesudason's fame reached far and wide and medical fraternity and others started to  look at him with wonder and  more respect .Dr. S.R. Banerjee Jesudason served at the reputed Christian Medical College, Vellore for many years  in various capacities and   during the period between 1996 and 2001 he served as the H.O.D, of the Department of General Surgery,  in an envious and competent manner . And also he was privileged to  serve as the Organizing Secretary of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of the CMC, Vellore.  I am proud and glad to say his  blessed and beautiful mother Mrs Sunderabai Jesudason was a native of Kanyakumari District . Dr S.R. Banerjee Jsudason was a dedicated, devoted and  efficient medical Doctor and Surgeon; he has been serving humanity through CMC, Vellore , in an efficacious manner till his retirement and even after retirement he continues to serve the needy and sick people in his own way, whenever  possible. .. Definitely he is one of the most illustrious and efficacious  Medical Doctors and Surgeons in India  and has become a shimmering milestone  of Kanyakumari District,  North Arcott District ,Tamil Nadu and India.

Dr. S.R. Banejee Jesudason's Birth and Parents :  Dr. S.R Banerjee Jesudason was born on  19th June 1945  in Chennai [Madras]. ,  as the eldest male child to Rev.D. Jesudason  of Ambur and Mrs Sundara Bai Jesudason nee Subanandaraj  of Nagercoil.[ Kanyakumari District]. Mr. Rev D Jesudason was a native of Ambur , [ then  North Arcott District  now Vellore District] . Mr. Jesudason   son of Rev.K. Devasahayam of the India Evangelical Lutheran Church [IELC]  was a B.A[ History] graduate of Madras Christian College ,Thambaram , Chennai [Madras] and a B.T graduate of Meston Training College, Chennai.  He had his Theological training at the Concordia Theological Seminary at Nagercoil  of the India Evangelical  Lutheran Church,  .Thus he was a teacher and  also an ordained Pastor of IELC.   . Mr.D. Jesudason , B.A, B.T, retired as Principal of the Concordia High School, Ambur. But continued  as an ordained Pastor in the I.E.L.C till his death.. Dr. S.R. Banerjee Jesudason's mother Ms Sundara Bai Jesudason was a  native of Kanyakumari District.  and Ms Sundara Bai's parents Lt. Colonel Subananda Raj and Mrs Nallamuthu Subananda Raj were officers in the Salvation Army Church and had served the Salvation Army in its Head Quarters in Trivandrum, Kerala most of their time  .Ms Sundara Bhai  married Rev. D, Jesudason from Ambur ,  and after her marriage she  moved  over to Ambur .She did her Secondary Grade Teacher's Training Course at the Concordia Teacher's Training School, Ambur and worked as a Teacher  at the Concordia High School Ambur till her retirement.  Both Mrs Sundara Bai Jesudasan and Rev. Dr. Banejee Jesudason's Siblings:  Rev.D Jesudasona and his wife Ms Sundara Bai Jesudason couple was blessed with three loving  children [ two sons and one daughter] namely: [1] Dr. S.R. Banerjee Jesudason [son], [2] Mr. Er. Rabindranath S.B Jesudason [son] and [3] .Mrs Usha Samuel [Daughter] nee Jesudason  Mr Rabindranath S.B. Jesudason is an excellent  and much sought after Architect settled in Philadelphia , U.S.A. Mrs. Usha Samuel is a teacher , settled in San Jose , California, USA.. Mrs.Usha Samuel's husband Rev. Samuel is working as a Christian Minister in USA.
